Quick question.
The Amarr assault suit give 5% to heat reduction(?) or something like this. Does this effect the damage output of the laser rifle? |

Skill bonuses never have adverse effects. What it will do, is allow your LRs and SRs will be able to fire in longer bursts, letting you apply more damage to the enemy without overheating and getting a blastback of coolant plasma. |

Thanks, I wasn't sure how to read it. I knew it was a bonus, just wasn't sure how it applied. |

The damage of the laser rifle does not depend on the heat level. It depends on how long you've had the trigger down. So if you have less heat build up then you get more shots and more damage per shot (eventually) before you overheat. |

My experience with it in Uprising is that the more heated it is, the more damage it does. Generally I overheat with 37/100 capacity left. |

The Amarr Assault bonus makes the Scrambler Rifle terrifying. It becomes like a Tactical Assault Rifle with a bonus damage against Shields and headshots.
However, I do believe damage for Laser Rifles IS based on Heat. So while it will allow you to fire for longer periods of time, it will take longer to get to the upper damage bonuses. That being said, once you get to the upper damage bonuses, it will be able to fire longer than other people's resulting in more damage but overall less burst. At least that is how I think it works. |

If I remember correctly the damage formula is (was?) something like (anecdotal evidence can be found in one of the links here ):
damage per shot = base damage + 0.6 * shots fired
This has probably been tweaked since this tidbit was leaked by CCP Wolfman but I assume that it has the same form even if it has different numbers. Notice that the damage is not based on heat build up.
Heat increases as shots are fired and damage increases as shots are fired but the two are otherwise independent as far as I know.
Incidentally with a Visiam and Amarr assault V I overheat with 11 rounds left. |

I remember back in Chromosome a developer confirmed that damage done is based off how long you are firing and has nothing to do with the heat build up. I'll try to look for the link, but just think about it logically: if it was based on heat build up then reducing your heat build up wouldn't be a beneficial bonus then would it? |

there is a base damage on the LR then a bonus is added on for every secound of continuous shooting. meaning if you let off the trigger then it resets. meaning if the heat build up is really high and you let off and use bursts it will reset every time you let off the trigger.
to answer the first question. in the LR stats it will tell you the heat tank and then heat build up per secound. this is the same for hybrid turrets, energy based weapons, and hmg,
EX: LR has 100 point heat tank, with 15 points of heat build up per secound. with 5% reduction (per lvl) it takes off heat build up |

You're experiencing more damage when you have fired 62 shots... not when you are about to overheat. An Amarr assault suit will be able to hold out longer and see higher peak damage at the same heat level because it will take longer to get to that heat level. |
