So now I've played this game since it came out of beta, more or less I think, and I am enjoying myself most of the time, although I think there is a few things that needs to be fixed, but I've seen those been discussed both here and in reviews so those are no news.
I've got one alt out of the academy and on in, I created a new one to try out a couple of things in slightly friendlier environment. I haven't spent anything on skills or equipment on either for a couple of different reasons.
Do I have to restock on dropsuits or only what is equipped on them?
Right now I'm thinking a heavy with a swarm launcher(?) and/or AV nades (or is the heavy too slow for having use for them?) for when there's vehicles to wreck and some kind of MG for when most of the fighting is done on foot. Is that even possible or do you have to specialize more?
I haven't looked much at the skill system or the market yet and what little I saw of the skills I did not get much but then I have never been a MMO player and I'm sure it's slightly less complicated then what I think if I spend some time in there. That is the other thing though, how much time do I have to spend grinding about to keep things flowing? I do enjoy my FPS games still but it must be 10-15 years since I had my peak and now in the age of arthritis I'm going to have less then stellar scores. Which really does not bother me but is it possible for someone who don't have that much time to spend and not that great of a score inflow to get out of the starter kits? |

Well I have to say that going twice through the Academy was worth it, gave me a chance to try more or less everything you got from start out without getting stomped. I got a lot less end-screen loot my second time around and I do wonder how that is decided. Feels like the Academy is a bit too short but then I'm never in any rush.
Also I got a pretty standard mouse, it has worked decent enough in other FPS games although it is getting a bit old, but in Dust tracking in turrets is dead slow, although sometimes when on foot it jumps off, usually down. Searching the forum I see I am not the only one but I did not see if there's a fix for it, if you need a kicking gaming mouse or if that is just the way it is right now. As it is now I keep the controller close and switch between which works good enough I guess.
I also noticed the other day that the new dude I made is a dudette, that it took me a couple of days to notice is probably because of the lack of mirrors in the room. I guess the cloning process isn't foolproof, all I wanted was to make someone who's got a face on their back. |
