So with the recent DDoS attack, a lot of you were left in the dark. No one knew what was happening, how long it would last, or how secure your account was. With the forums down, there was no way of communicating with one another until the forums were back up, and it was nerve wracking.
For those that already know about the IRC channel, you may skip this thread and go on with your lives. For those that don't, use this information in case we are ever being attacked again, or if you want to chat with some bros.
The Dust IRC channel can be found by going to dust514.org (a fansite created during the closed beta days, mostly used to discuss speculation). From there you will see a bar with several links - you want the "Chat" link, which will take you to the IRC channel. Here you can live chat with other people about the current situation (or if you're looking for advice, a rage vent, squads, whatever you want that's Dust related).
I encourage people to use this channel in case of another blackout. It is not hosted on CCP servers, so if this situation were to arise again, the IRC will remain functional and provide a source of information so you're not left in the dark.
I'm posting this mostly because I saw so few people actually in the chat during the downtime. If you already knew about this, then this information is happily unneeded and you may continue on your merry way. For those that see this as new information, take note of it, maybe pop in and say hi, and keep it in the back of your head for future reference.

My alliance website was booming for a while in the sites chatroom, lots of good info (or just updates) came from there since nobody could play.

First port of call should always be EVE Offline to check sever status and if the poop has hit the fan, as it did here, they will have external links with more info. |
