Listen, we all get upset about system downtime. Its perfectly normal, what I'm sick of seeing is things like "CCP can't get anything right". So let's look at the facts about Dust514....
Its free to play, yes believe it or not you can choose to play this game and pay nothing! I myself am a twice paying customer and probably will pay again in the future for my own benefit and to aid the development of Dust.
Its a massive undertaking, CCP is trying to get a sandbox mmorpg linked up with a FPS game, who knows how this is going to end up, but I imagine it cannot be easy.
Downtime happens, could you believe that other games that are online go down too? CCP make a serious effort however to ensure your character data is not effected by bugs and such by any means.
Its going to happen again, deal with it. And although it is definitely going to happen, the downtime is pretty minimal if you think about it, considering the fact this can effect 2 games.
Here's what you can do about it!
Post constructive feedback on bugs, glitches and generally how the game can be improved. Or Shut up, it doesn't help, ever hear the phrase "if you can not say anything nice, just say nothing at all". Follow it.
Now this doesn't apply to everyone, I see a lot of strong positive feedback on the forums, keep at it. I also see debates on weapons and their respective balancing, this is to be encouraged. You guys are forum warriors and should keep at it!
In short, if a bit of downtime is going to Ruin you're life so much, maybe this game isn't for you.. I sincerely hope that most people who this post was meant for will take a moment and reflect on what they can do, and what they are currently doing.
Thanks for reading. |

Dave RUTRUH wrote:Why do people feel the need to make threads telling others how they can stop being negative and be constructive. No one will EVER look at a thread like this and think *Despite my thoughts going into this thread, I feel compelled to change my ways*. WE KNOW there is a lot of work to put into a game... but despite being F2P there are micro payment options that MANY people spend on and actually in the long run make them more money then a subscription or selling a game could ever make them... So despite it being free to play - most people know staying free is only practical for so long..
So now its out there that people are spending money - why should they not be upset at things? You are investing in their product and so far the investments seem to have null return...
But alas, I rant..
Tldr; people whine too much about negativity when it will always be around for games.. even amazing ones..

I'm not saying theres anything wrong with being upset, but going "CCP get your s*** together" isnt constructive. And it seems you missed my point entirely, I want people to not cry over a little downtime, but to feedback in a constructive manner. The more bugs ect we feedback, the less likely there would even be a need for downtime, as we aid the devolopement of the game. And I've invested, I'm still getting pleanty of return, I gain more SP when I play and I have the ability to purchese items without getting the skills required, which is very handy when choosing which weapons to go for as the newer stuff simply doesnt have a militia option.
Its not like i loose anything during the downtime, I'll just go do something else. |
