Templars everywhere are suiciding, either by biomass, MCC suicide jumps, or suiciding before players can get the kill on them. Several threads complaining about the Templar event, both by Templars and Hunters. It's the Dust equivalent to the EvE Jita event, or so it seems.
I can appreciate the purpose of the event, but both sides of this argument have cause for concern. Templars with BPO gear that can't compete in proto matches, entire teams of players out to stomp one or two Templars in a match. Public matches aren't even a fair match, even if the team with Templars win the match, why? Because 16 players are hunting Templars for 2.5 million ISK. Templars are easy kills.
I'm not saying that those who signed up didn't know what was coming, as far as the match types were concerned, it was clearly defined and laid out, however CCP failed to properly think this event out.
This event should have been Hunters against Templars 200 vs 200 in private matches, with perhaps the side getting the most kills winning the spoils of war. CCP clearly failed to view this event with any seriousness and it is nothing more than a promotional event, as seen in the PS scroll at the top of our Home Screens. Additionally, this event is also just for some backstory that players get to participate in, like the other events. Only, will the results of the event be the backstory or was it determined when Templars were gimped from the start against proto players?
Sure some great players might do ok against proto players, but when you start off a new character with having to farm ISK just to train, then I'm afraid the honest truth is that Templars were setup by the masters. Hunters have a valid argument as well when Templars are suiciding or not logging in because they feel gimped. Hunters can't get their part of the event or their 2.5 million ISK.
I propose that this event be reconsidered, both with new players and a new system where Hunters and Templars are in a Private event with the same starting attributes and rules put into place or systems put into place that prevent MCC afking, suicides, and disabling Biomass. Additionally, I would recommend that should any Hunter or Templar quit a match more than 5 times over the event or fail to login to the character for more than 24 hours after the start of the event, then that player be disqualified and the DQ count as a death for that team and a win for the other.
All that being said Templars, including myself, should feel ashamed for our behavior. Hunters should also be ashamed. Anyone of us have complained about proto-stomps, gear issues, and everything else under the sun, but in this particular case, the poor planning and layout of this event was not clearly thought out by CCP. This is not an issue of Tac ARs or Caldari Logis, this is an issue of a community event, hosted and setup by CCP that clearly doesn't meet the expectations of the community of player who have vested an interests in this event. |
