Once those get released the Scout will finally be able to enter its true role. Gathering intel on enemy positions and making precision strikes, seemingly from nowhere. I would not recommend any significant changes to the scout suit until these modules are released. It's a shame that a game mechanic has to stay gimped because an integral part of it is still on the drawing board. It's a greater shame to diminish the role by turning it into something it isn't just so you can Rambo with it until its true purpose is available. I run scouts and have never come across a situation where I thought "Gee I wish I had the tank of a medium suit right now!" It usually goes something like, "Yeah, okay.. I should have been a bit sneakier there instead of running such a typical path." When the stealth modules are out you can be sneaker on shorter routes, but I actually get more WP running scouts than I do running mediums right now. And I have more SP into mediums.

Heavies specialize in Heavy Weapons, giving them a unique role that no other suit/frame can utilize.
Cloaking should be the Light Frame's unique role that no other suit can utilize. This would make for an intriguing playstyle and character arch that forces specialization rather than generalization and in a game like Dust, we need more Specialization. I believe there are plans for a Black Ops HAV. Most likely a significantly health gimped HAV, with a bit higher speed and with the ability to fit a cloaking module, the implications are great. Start with the stealth scout, get behind enemy lines, call in a stealth HAV and drop a stealth uplink (if these are going to be a thing) and then sneak up on the enemy from behind. Use your imagination.
Aside from this, I agree that at least suit wise, it should be restricted to the Scout class. Or perhaps light suits in general. |
