So i have been taking myself to flight school the last few days. Crashing mostly , or getting shot then crashing. Im finding dropships to be difficult to master but have seen people do some cool stuff with them. So lets say I stick with it and can fly like a leaf on the wind , is it possible to rain death from on high with the assult ships or it that just wishfull thinking? |

I've found them to be little more than an annoyance as an infantry player. |

I am fully 10mill sp into ADS. spent last night with two gunners who were tankers so also specced into missile turrets. I gave them both a proto Accelerated XP-1. off we went.
I lost one ship to a drunk RDV sky Swipe. also lost 1 to a forge, but that was due to a lag bug when I dropped to pick up a gunner and he saw me still in the air, I saw me on the ground. So he didn't get in, I hung round waiting for ages.... Made myself vulnerable.
Some matches one gunner went 13-0, most the kills were split at 7-0 each. add to that assists, about 4 tank kills, a load of lavs and the herd factor and we did rain death from above.
Now the herd factor is important, and overlooked. Killing is one way to kill...... The other is to herd enemies into your ground troops. You don't get the kills but you did cause their deaths. A drop ship does this by slamming rockets into the enemy groups, any you don't kill will panic and move often into the LOF of your ground troops.
So remember not just to kill, but to scare and force errors in your enemy. And tanks tanks tanks. Your job is to stop them or annoy them to death. This is your priority when they turn up. |

You will die learning. There is a lot to take in and to do. It is often frustrating but mostly good fun. But don't get careless or greedy. Never hang round for that last shot to finish someone off it you know an AV guy is onto you. Go up. Go across. Come down. Make them lose track of you then attack again.
as a pilot myself I have a quick question, what do you fit your ADS with? i've been trying to find the right balance for survivability. |
