Now, before you hiss at me thinking that there is going to be an option to get free Aurum, listen to my suggestion. The problem with not being able to get Aurum in any other way than to pay for it is that players feel like they are being milked and gauged for every single penny they have. If you allow players to SLOWLY get Aurum, then players feel that the game is: Fair in the business model department Not milking you bone dry Not P2W
What this creates is trust between you and the player, AND has the added bonus of making that person more comfortable buying Aurum in the future.
How will it work? Well, first of all, it won't create any Aurum out of thin air, Aurum will still be destroyed, though a small amount of it will be recycled.
So lets say 200 Aurum worth of items has been destroyed in a match, 90% of that is destroyed, leaving us with 20 Aurum. Then at the end of the match this is distributed between the players, and in this specific example it nets each player less than one Aurum. So lets go to the extreme and say 2000 Aurum worth of items have been destroyed, how much money will each player get? 2000 * 0.10 = 200 Aurum 200 / 36 (max amount of players in a match) = 5.5 Aurum. And that's at the extreme end of it, as even though I don't have statistics, I do believe in most times the Aurum destroyed is never this high.
Aurum will still need to be injected into the system, it will not change hands forever, so people will still need to buy Aurum. Think of it like PLEX in EVE. |

The one reason why this wouldn't work is because Sony's cut comes from AURUM sales. I doubt they would support any system that might reduce the number of buyers they get. Trust me, this will be more than worth it. In games where you can get money you pay for, the amount of players who actually buy stuff is much higher. This is because players feel much better spending their money, because they don't feel like they were forced to do it. |

I think some of the demand for this might wane when you take into account the future ability of Dust players to buy AURUM gear from other Dust players for ISK. Don't get my wrong, I like where you're coming from, but I'm having a hard time seeing the practicality beyond the immediate. This market is at least a year or two away. This is a solution that will work for now. |

When I read that something like 10% of destroyed Aurum gets transferred to the winning team, I kind of thought about PLEXes in EVE and how one person pays for one with real money and then how someone else can get that same PLEX card, either through purchasing with ISK or by destroying the other person's ship and looting the PLEX card, if it drops.
So my suggestion is to allow AUR to be a traded commodity on the market (though this will only work when the market opens). Players buy AUR with real money, and they can sell it for lots of ISK on the market if they want. This way people can still get AUR without spending real money, but every single piece of AUR in the game is still completely paid for with real money.
Edit: @Cross atu, I read your post after I posted, and it seems like we both have the same suggestions about making AUR a tradeable commodity. This is the idea everyone had lol |

They spend the gold (Aurum) thus circulating it to the manufacturer of the items where they keep it and spend it. It's not like the soldiers get the Neo dropsuits and strap gold bars to them. Yes, but the items bought with aurum could be "salvaged" and "sold" back to the manufacturers for parts to be recycled. What he said. |
