On the map? It seems like every time I try and be stealthy and sneak up behind someone when they are hacking an objective, they instantly turn around and try and kill me. When I'm hacking an objective, I never see them on my mini-map. Or I'll be at the redline on the side of the map fking around doing nothing sometimes, and someone will see me on the map through mountains and walls and buildings and come kill me. Wtf?
Orr I'll be on top of a huge arse tower, set a drop uplink, go back to the ground for half the game, then spawn on it, and people instantly know I'm there.
I specced into profile dampers since I thought it would help, nope.
Why can they see me on the mini-map and I can't see them? |

Every suit has a Scan Profile that's based on the Frame Size (Light/Scout = 45, Medium/Assault/Logi = 50, Heavy/Sentinel = 65... I think... not at my PS3 right now).
Every suit ALSO has a Scan Precision rating which changes based on the suit type. The lower this number is, the better - your Precision needs to be lower than the target's Profile to light them up. Assault have a Precision of 55 - without training up the relevant skills, or fitting Precision Enchancer modules, YOU CAN'T PICK UP ANOTHER ASSAULT SUIT.
A Logi suit's Precision is, at its base, 50. If you skill into Dampening, and they skill equally into Precision, you'll remain visible to them. If they fit a Precision Enhancer on top of the passive bonus, they have a decent chance of spotting a Scout with low SP investment.
On top of all that, players share target info with teammates, so if someone on the other team can see you, then you'll be lit up for the guy you're sneaking up on as well.
Moral of the story: even Scouts aren't invisible, be careful. |

This is something I've been wondering about, so it IS good to at least try to look at far away targets, even if you can't hit them, to kinda warn teammates, huh? |

Ok but how are guys in militia gear spotting me when I have profile dampers on.
And I really doubt you can see a drop uplink when there's four walls surrounding it, which has been the case sometimes. |

Stationary things like Installations and drop uplinks should be Invisible until they are spotted, then they should be on the map at all times until they are destroyed or hacked to friendly.
But they should be invisible UNTIL spotted IMO. |

Dampeners don't do much if some one has the big map open. you sill show. not lit up, but you are there. Look at the big map next time. see them moving? And when they get spotted, they light up.

And I really doubt you can see a drop uplink when there's four walls surrounding it, which has been the case sometimes. Militia Light Frame suit still has a much lower Scan Precision than your dampened non-Light Profile. If another enemy can see you, then you'll be marked for the entire enemy team, including the guy you're sneaking up on. The tier of suit doesn't affect your scanning capabilities as much as the modules and skills you back it up with.
Uplinks light up really obviously and show on the minimap almost anywhere on the map. And my comment about Uplinks was that they have built-in scanners, if you're close to an enemy Uplink, you light up so they can see you. |

I snipe occasionally and I find that most of the time someone can be behind a wall or hill and if my sight goes past them i get the chevron alerting me that they there also if you drop an uplink or a hive we can see its there ... hope this helps. |

Also, if you move the crosshair over someone, like that black shape on the hill, the carrot and the suit info show up. Not sure if they show up on radar too, I only notice this when sniping and thus out of radar range. |

When hacking the cannons, if it has already been hacked, a signal is sent out that the enemy is hacking it. Drop uplinks are currently visible to everybody who looks at the big map and on the mini map if close by. If it is not on the ground then automatically assume it is above you and we have seen plenty of vids of people camping on top of towers etc.
The rest might be experience and teamwork. The hacker may have a spotter watching out for enemies and when you are hacking they mat know the best angle to attack you from. |

Okay, serious answer. I'm not sure if it's all instillations, but CRU points have built in scanners in them that expose you no matter how low your signature is. Not sure about the hard number radius, but it's pretty big. |

If someone from the enemy team sees you by ADS, you'll appear in that guy's radar and in his whole squad (or whole non squad bluedots radar), no matter how low your profile is. The HUD makes it difficult to be stealthy because of this "feature". Also sprinting nor shooting will reveal you on their radar.
If you're a scout there's no use to have profile dampeners/enhancers because you got the lowest dB in both, so you'll be able to see everyone, even other scouts unless they have dampeners/enhancers themselves, which is rare. I recommend you use range amplifiers. Every suit has the same scan radius (10m), so investing in these is a great choice. Also the active scanner could be useful. |

No amount of dampeners will help. If someone can see you(they don't necessarily have to llok straight at you), then the whole friggin team can see you. |

At a certain distance (it's definitely more than 100m, but not sure of the exact range), you will only light up if the enemy has you in their crosshairs |
