So we have been walking around the map in the warbarge for close to year now. I can only assume that the holo map table thingy in the middle is supposed to show the map that we're about to fight on.
They had a similar feature for Warhawk in PS home implement around 2008/9. There we could stand around the map, discuss various tactics and launch into game. This was hardly used since we all knew the maps in and out and they were all symetrical, one half of the map being the exact opposite of the other, so it didn't matter what side you spawned on.
I can only wonder why this, and I'm assuming its another one of those SoomTMs, wasn't implement at the launch of PC. It would make perfectly sence to do so, being able to see the map for about 10 minutes before battles, see which side we spawn at and plan accordingly.
Now its up to the battle leaders to shout out orders as we spawn in, not an ideal situation.
Can a DEV or one of the community representatives shed some light on this? Is it merely for show? Is this a planned feature, and why "release" the game without it being implemented?
And please, pretty please, with sugar on top, please don't say SOON... |

From what I understand, the holomap used to have stuff on it in early beta. I'd imagine with Conquest out that it could be useful if they could link it to the battle map, but I don't know how much memory that would take up. |

Yes back in the long long ago you'd be able to view the map much in the way you do now when spawning just without any players or NPC installations on the field. You could then use it to plan strategy with your squadmates or at least get an idea of what was coming (should I plan to call in tanks or not). I assume at some point in the future it will be returned as a station for the MCC commander to use for dropping installations and calling in strikes. |

A whole year? You should probably restart your PS3. I don't think that match is going to start.

In all seriousness, this sort of detailed planning won't appeal to most players who just want to jump into a match right away. And if you were in a serious corporation, you would probably discuss tactics in your forums rather than the ten minutes right before the game started. |

This post makes sense, because why would we discuss various battle plans using a map?! Instead, as we're not a serious corporation taking part in PC, we should literally join a PC Match and run around like blue dots.
I don't know if you've noticed, but many of the posts are directed at the herd of sheep running around mindlessly blasting eachother in a public match, I believe Babar was talking about Planetary Conquest, and the fact the maps are all meant to be different (SoonTM) and we need a way to view it so we can discuss various tactics, plans to attack and such, being able to call out where Squad 1 should spawn and attack, where a tanker should position himself and various other things would be so much more beneficial than starting a match after sitting around for 10 minutes in a War Barge going through a plan for each map type. It would also be so much better than spawning in, seeing the map and having the squad commanders issue orders for each group within the 10 seconds of everyone jumping into a game. It's just a clusterfuck of voice comms usually and hurts organization. |
