That's it. As soon as TAR gets nerfed (I guess mostly because people love to use modded controller to get an unfair advantage and penalize the other players bringing in a general nerf), a Scrambler Rifle fest is coming. Be ready!
I can't actually figure out how TAR gets nerfed while Scrambler Rifles are not (well, automatic AR's are hell good too, Duvolle is just beyond belief), but it's ok for me: Scramblers have a slightly worse range, so it will be easier for me to snipe people without getting disturbed (I'm 50% sarcastic and 50% realist, here)
I'm coming from a game where everything has been nerfed to the point there's a single gun still working properly. Yes, ONE gun for everyone (If you think it's impossible just try Uncharted 3 Multiplayer, it's free to play right now), so I know from experience that once TAR gets "fixed", people will start to complain about something else (my money is on Scrambler Rifle) and DUST can possibly become a sort of HMG war or something similar but still very very stupid. |

Do you guys seriously believe this modded controller bullshit? You all sound 14 grasping at straws as to why you get pwned, just because one person, used a modded controller, against someone, 3 weeks ago, doesn't mean EVERYONE IS USING THEM. God.
I'm going to continue using the TAR after it's "nerf" which doesn't affect me whatsoever, and I'm going to continue to embed lead into helmets, 360 degrees around me, within 50 feet.

I am already one-shotting assaults with full charged headshots, and one-shotting scouts, easily.
With proficiency maxed out, these are better than the TAC ARs, only they take skill to use because of the overheating.

The only that WILL prevent it from being OP is its overheat function (not saying that good players cannot manage their heat buildup). |

We've discussed it and the fixes they are giving it. Most tac ar users are alright with it from what I've seen considering it will still be useful in its intended range and the fixes CCP said they were testing were proposed by us. I'll still use it. I like having a semi-auto mid-range weapon. In other words, you're late.

It simply won't be nerfed either, as heat build-up is inherently balancing. I'll (probably) go Amarr assault on my main for exactly this reason. Even minor tweaks will allow this gun to be impressive.

Not for long. Scramblers are slated to have their range extended. My guess is CCP simply goofed the numbers. 30m (the same as an HMG) is simply silly for a laser weapon, pulsed or otherwise. |

Scramber rifles overheat.
It is balanced.

note that the regular AR still does more DPS on average than the SCR because it does not have the huge disadvantage against shields.

From what I've seen and what I've played around with, SR is good but balanced.
The drawbacks require skill to use properly, but used properly, it kills. That should be true of more weapons in the game, to be honest.
The problem with TARs was that they had no drawbacks whatsoever. Kudos to CCP for trying to introduce them in a cautious, gradual manner.
Also: Yes, modded controllers are an issue. I'd been on squad chat with a disturbing amount of randoms who referenced using them. TurboFire PS3 controllers are a simple 30 buck for full-auto pwnage. |

And this is why it is balanced: Lead, Overheat, Timing
The scrambler projectile isn't an immediate hit, you have to lead your target, unlike the AR. Strafing scouts are a pain in the neck.
The Scrambler rifle overheats, and if you pull a charge shot and miss, you've only got a couple more shots, so there's a lot of risk involved (plus it has terrible hit detection)
The timing on the rifle is based on release of the button, not press, so timing your shot is backward to an AR and takes practice and is difficult to switch too and from. |

No one is going to ask for an SCR nerf, and anyone that does has never used an SCR and realized that, unlike the TAR, it actually does take a LOT of skill to use well. Even for those that can use it well, it's still balanced and not the OP weapon that the TAR is.
The TAR is like having a half-charged SCR that you can fire without it ever overheating. It's stupidly overpowered. |

Doesn't matter.
The MD took skill to use, could kill the wielder, and was very situational, yet it got nerfed anyway. Look for the SCR to get nerfed. |

If people start crying about the SCR, i'm simply going to laugh. Currently, really skilled players are the ones using it to great effect.
If you're killed by a SCR you should smile, and actually give the guy props. Mastering that weapon takes skill, and is the hallmark of a true marksman player. It's a badge of honor if you can take a scrambler and kick serious ass.
I just hope the effective range increase is minor. I think the SCR is perfectly balanced as is. |

LOL you guys really like to exaggerate dont you?
TAC rifle really wasnt OP but could have the 10% dmg buff all weapons rcv'd removed. That being said I am now using the scrambler and LOL........ I can do things I couldnt do with the tac to easily with this weapon. Charged shot destroys everything. I have armored users running away after 1 shot because they have only 25% of their HP left after it hit. If you fire as fast as possible you can fire 14-15 shots before overheating. If you are somewhat controlled you can go through 3/4ths of your clip before overheating. I will laugh even more with the scrambler buff that is coming. With 0 recoil this weapon is just simply amazing. |

lol firing 14-15 rounds without overheating is GOOD, it's balanced. because now you have to start mitigating your shots enough to manage heat. (with the tac now firing 18 rounds it's more in line with the scrambler, but it does well to stay out of scrambler's range. both weapons now have distinct advantages and disadvantages)
no recoil is fine. the overheat function is the scrambler's MAJOR balancing trait, and also, that it doesn't have the same zoom as a tactical AR at range.
it really doesn't need a range boost though. it's perfectly potent as is. There isn't a more PERFECT weapon in this game. Skill based? Check. Power? Check. Accuracy? Check. Moderate range? Check.
Will it bite noobs that try to use it in the face? Yup.
I hope they never touch it. |

Simple for CCP to avoid this by say No Effin respec.
But the SCR isn't OP just good against shields. I mean if someone took an SCR to my toons they wouldn't get anything out of it because I tank a great deal of armour.
Thing about the SCR is it was just trolled after its release by the same players who will now be speccing into it, it worked as intended by the majority of the player based at the time the TAC AR is still and extremely viable weapon to keep using, and the AR standard variant is by far and away a better gun.
Shame for people like me who specced into the SCR before it was released that this horrible group of meta dictating assholes will ruin a perfectly good gun for the rest of us. |
