So basically when I get my skill reset, I am spending almost 3 mill SP on ADV Minnie scout suit and proto nova knives, which leaves me just enough to get Kinetic Catalyzer to lvl 5 for 12% sprint speed increase(stacking possibly), or 144 extra HP(2 66 hp mods with 10% bonus = 12 more hp), from getting shields extension maxed out and a little extra after.
I am leaning toward Shield because 144 more hp when im trying to kill crap with knives is huge to me, but in my mind I cant quite visualize how 12%(possibly up to 20%) sprint speed would help me kill crap in comparison if when I get seen i instant die.
Or, recommend a different path after i get the crucial bits. |

I'd go with Kin Catalyzers.
It doesn't matter how much health you have, as long as you avoid getting hit, and Kin Catalyzers help a lot.
And anyway, 144hp is only going to stop two more hits from a TAC AR. |

Have you confirmed that you can fit two prototype shield extenders with the ADV suit with your variuos other weapons, grenades and EQ?
Personally I'd try for the two complex sheild extenders and the highest kin/cat I could fit, even if it was only 1 militia kin/cat. Since you will be buffing your shields you could even put a 2nd kin/cat in your 2nd low slot and forgo armor repair or other items there.....
If it was me, I'd split the diff and go 2 enhanced shield extenders and 1 enh kin/cat and 1 armor repper (assuming you have the points to take both shields and catalyzers to L3 each). Running is just as useful as shields to me. |

Regulators (the green biotic). The fact that you can only charge them in midair (while maintaining forward 'sprint' momentum) makes having enough stamina to actually JUMP more important than 12% more speed OR shields (especially shields).
That said, when I was stabbing people I ran with a KinCat and a Cardiac Regulator. No armor repairer (honestly.... 70 armor isn't keeping me alive anyway. That way I could move fast AND jump when needed.
Just something to think about. = ) |

This is also a great idea.
And be sure you have enough CPU/PG to fit both Modules before speccing into them. |

I really didn't think about splitting up the sp into the advanced for both. That's a good idea, actually. Two 33 hp shield mods and two 8% kin/cats. I guess thats not bad but somewhere in my head i just get an urge to get 300 hp and roll with a militia 5% kin/cat, instead of 8%.
And yeah, It should fit, I dont use a 2nd weapon. Just use Nova knives with basic nades, basic droplink, then possibly proto shields and militia kin/cat and stam booster |

This is an excellent point..... endurance is key. If you can fit a green biotic, a red biotic and perhaps some enhanced shield extenders, this would be an excellently balanced build. You wouldn't be lopsided on shields, speed or endurance but you'd have nice jump up from the standard suit on all counts.

Yeah, its very balanced, but if you check out my post, I'll have to see but I think I can fit proto shield exteneders AND militia kin/cat. So i get speed and the most shield, instead of 3-6% more speed at the sacrifice of 72-ish HP |

Sounds like a good trade off... an extra 3% speed won't be as noticeable as the big jump in shields you will get. Especially with the scouts quick sheild delay, and high shield recharge rate. |

The thing is though... nothing +72 is still nothing.
While it MIGHT save your ass a few times, being able to move is defo more important than taking an extra hit (from a TAC) or two (from anything else).
Those extra few HP translate into essentially no 'time alive' saved... versus the ability to completely avoid fire altogether.
However, more shields IS always a good thing... don't mishear me. I simply think a green & a red is about the best set up you can get. Make certain your math is solid too, since scouts are running VERY tight on CPU's these days. = / |

Oh do I know that : (
It would be cool if I could test this out before spending a months worth of sp into it...
but seeing as how I am probably going to focus on getting the kin/cat maxed after my shields(I still might be able to get lvl 1 or 2 kin/cat, bypassing militia and making it easier on my cpu/pg), so after 2 weeks or so I could get kin/cat maxed. I dont know, servers arent up and cant check my total sp after i get my core stuff.
But I mean, 7.9m/s sprint speed, becomes like 8.2 with the militia kin/cat, how big a difference is 8.5? |

I personally believe in almost all cases advanced gear > proto. There are exceptions (like shield extenders for example) but generally speaking a LOT of proto gear isn't worth the immense SP/ISK cost. Especially SP.
When you consider the actual difference per bullet of (for example) a Gek with two advanced damage mods versus a Duvolle Assault Rifle (NOT a TAC) with Complex damage mods one has to consider if it's worth the extra few million SP to attain.
Generally speaking, unless you're taking down a heavy or a shield tanking Cal Logi (where's your flux grenades anyway) you're looking at one or two more bullets to drop them.
For a few million SP.

I was under the impression that that was 5% of {5/8/12%}. not an extra 5% on movement speed...

Yeah, that's true. Definitely thinking about it. But you have to understand, Complex shield extenders are like 5k isk a piece, which is not much at all and give good value. They only cost like 500k more then advanced i think, and I have enough for that. Sticking with ADV suits and proto knives(necessary imo), but knives and shield only proto gear on. Everything else is adv or basic |

There is a lot of good advice here, and ultimately you will need to decide what you style prefer more. You may be able to get a feel for if you like shields or mobility/speed more by testing out a few iterations of advanced builds suits (since in either case you are going to spend the SP for the ADV Minmitar scout suit).
Maybe try an advanced Minmitar suit and equipping it with militia kin/cat + green stamina module, but NO shields.
Then try a build with two militia/STD or ADV shield modules but nothing in the low slots at all...
it's not a super great comparison I know.... But it may give you a feel for how important speed and staminia would be to your playstyle in relation to extra shields.... that's the best I got. Or, you just gotta choose one of the many good posts and say "Dat's my fit!" |

Some more good advice, thanks peeps.
And I just found out something huge. I was calculating that I had to invest into Light Dropsuits lvl 5 just to hit minnie scout. Now I see its lvl 3. That saves a whopping 1 million sp off my previous calculations. I can officially get both kin/cats proto and complex shields. Cant actually put both on a adv scout, since that would go over the limit, but i can meander 2 complex and a advanced kin/cat most likely. So i get both, huzzah!
Also, have to wait another day just for reset, maybe even longer. Sigh, this is boring as Im getting excited for my new build |

Yeah will double check in the meantime now that things are different then before.
Yeah I have one on my Adv G. Scout right now along with a kin/cat, both militia.
I dont think I can fit a regulator though, unless i toss grenades out, because I already got rid of a secondary weapon(like AR/SM/pistol), would like to keep nades just as my aoe long range group thing. |
