Ok, so most of the forum warriors should be aware of the Templar ManSlaughter event going live in the next few hours.
I have some thoughts.
Specific to Templar ManSlaughter:
Based on what I understand of the Templar ManSlaughter event, it appears that any progress made on the Templars is just lost... the characters are simply deleted at the end of the event and nothing transfered. I feel that if the SP and ISK earned(NOT the lifetime totals, simply what the player earns) were to be transferred, it would provide incentive for the participants to continue playing on the temporary characters beyond the minimum requirements. This seems fair to not spend time without any compensation above and beyond the rewards. Bonus SP optional, but would provide more incentive to participate beyond minimum requirements to get a second weekly cap towards a main character.
I specifically did not sign up because of the lost SP of 20 battles that I could be investing in my main, since the reward in this case has no useful application to me since I do not plan to run Amarr suits.
Purposing of future events:
Events are cool, let people play around a bit, the role players and lore aficionados I am sure are absolutely loving it, but they could be used for much cooler and meaningful things as well.
When the next batch of phat lewt is pending, the next line of dropuits, or the next race of vehicles, or a new batch of weapons, what would it take to get events to introduce them? Live beta-launch of characters having 'prototype' blueprints. This would allow the new equipment to have lore and backstory, while also giving CCP DEVs a chance to see what players will do with them in live situations, allowing a practical scenario for balancing them without people 'wasting' hundreds of thousands of PERMANENT SP into something that nobody has tried before.
And after a weekend or week long event introducing the new lewt, some generic wrap up could be done, and introduce the items on the market(salvaged weapons/suits/vehicles have been successfully reverse engineered and entered mass production)
Example:
Angel Cartel acquires a bunch of tanks(Matari tanks)
X number of tank characters get distributed
(EVENT criteria/goals)
(feedback/balancing)
Angel Cartel forces routed, and the wreckages have been captured by Matari engineers and put into production
(loot and SP earned for the testers, token reward for the rest of the event participants)
