Guys, I've been reading these forums for the last couple of weeks and quite frankly, man, I've seen a lot confused people. People who ain't got their priorities in order. They ain't got their **** together to put it bluntly, guys. I'm talking about a very special segment of people and note that this behaviour isn't unique to Dust 514 but I use it as a lens to take a look at this whole thing. You see, guys, what I'm talking about here are the people who play the game a lot, they are active here on the forums but at the same time, man, they absolutely hate the game! They think the game is going into the wrong direction and they dislike CCP.
Now some of these people keep telling me: "Ric, can't you see it, I'm here for the potential, man!" What potential?! You just told me the game has gotten worse and worse every new build! One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results! That's right, I think you're nuts! Even if you think the game's improving slowly but is crap at this moment, get the **** out! Use your time better: Hit the gym, read the autobiography of Ben Franklin and improve your life. Then come back later and check it out if you think the game has reached the potential you guys keep talking about. Perhaps your cunty ass would be more happy too if you'd concentrate on what's going on in your life today instead of thinking about the future as your, and the game's saving grace.
Well we all know how these guys rationalise this behaviour, man. "Ric, I can't be competitive without playing this game every single day!" Or "This game will die if I leave!" and, guys, what really cracks me up is the classic: "As soon as X hits the market I'm gone!" Well if Dust 514 is the second best game in the market after X, then I guess it's not that bad at all. The bottom line is, guys, that if you don't enjoy the game, take a break, use your time better and come back later and check it out. Don't keep complaining about stuff and expect things to change around you just because you're unhappy! Because at the end of the day, boys and girls, that's not how anything in this life works. |

Guys, some great responses here. Honestly I really think this type of behaviour is something that people do all the time, be it with video games, in relationships or with their professional life, man. People are too God damn afraid to change any behaviour in their life and would rather hope for somebody else to make stuff better for them! I mean, yeah, people jump from game to game frequently but trust me when I say this, when these people jump into the "next big thing" like Destiny or whatever they're gonna be whining all the same in their forums. How about doing changes in your own behaviour rather than calling others out cause you're not satisfied?
Now, some of these negative whiners keep telling me that somebody needs to whine about stuff for stuff to change. WRONG! Only kind of difference negative people have ever made on anything in this world, is making things more ****** with their cunty behaviour!
Last but not least we've got the very special group of people who are so far out there, man, that they get their kick out coming to the forums and trying to either troll people, or "win" conversations. Now I don't know about you guys, but I quite honestly think that's just weird! |

Chinduko wrote:Dust may not be fun to play in Uprising but it good to keep SP farming for the day it is fun again. I disagree with that strongly, bro, and here's why. First of all you don't know if you'll ever like it, man. Second thing is, if you force yourself to keep playing it just because of this SP reward, you will probably end up disliking the game even more while having ****** time. Now instead if you had a break now, you might come back later and enjoy the game more because of the break and all the new stuff that was added.
The bottom line is this. Do stuff that actually improves your life and have fun with, instead of suffering now in the hopes that your labor here will someday be rewarded because suddenly the game rocks and you've got 15 mil SP in store! Not gonna happen. With all that time you "invested" in those 15 SP, you could have got so much done instead, bro. |

They are also looking for the "I told you so" argument. They will continue to play the game they despise until the day they can say, "I told you so."
I said this in a post a few weeks ago. There's sadly a group of players in every game who want to destroy what isn't theirs. Why? At what cost? If I'm watching a movie and it sucks, horribly, I turn it off. I don't just sit there and watch it when I already know it sucks. Okay, that's not entirely true. I have watched some BAAAAAAAAAAD movies and continued to watch them to see exactly how bad it can get(GI JOE Rise of Cobra comes to mind.) But I don't complain about it afterwards.
I don't know what these people are thinking. It's easy to just quit. Instead, they hate this game so much, they tell new players to quit but they themselves keep on playing.
The reason? The attention they get on the forums. Any attention, whether it's negative or positive, is attention. That's the game to them. That's the ultimate goal. To win Forum 514
Also, the forums represent a minority of the players - not all players even visit these forums. What you see, for the most part, are the vocal minority. SOMEONE finally acknowledges it! Exactly right! And one of the reason, among many reasons, is that most people prefer to stay away from cunty behaviour. And we all know that this forum is full of cunty behaviour. |

Truly irredeemable games don't get played. There's flashes of great fun, you can get a random match and have a totally awesome experience then the next game be dragged through purgatory. The OCD in me insists I should keep digging through poopies to find these diamonds. Agreed somewhat, man. Because we all know the game has it's problems, so yeah, I don't enjoy every match I play either. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't think Dust will ever be as smooth and well behaved like the cream of the crop of shooters but it definitely has more depth, which for me makes this game more enjoyable to play than Call Of Duty for example. |

The reason why I made the thread is, because I think it's safe to say that many of us has been in the situation where we keep playing a game we don't even enjoy for some strange reason, man. Whether it be because of gear, Xp or SP, friends like you said, or just because of that's what we've got used to doing. Well I tell you what, that happened to me with early days of WoW and man it really was the best decision when I took a break from that son of a *****, guys! |

Well I tell you what, that happened to me with early days of WoW and man it really was the best decision when I took a break from that son of a *****, guys! Did the same after SWG crashed and burned thanks to SoE's antics... Did it again, after walking away from crap in a game called Cabal Online. Ended up saying, "fk PC games. i got medical school to focus on." Then some friends bought me a PS3, and this game happened. Vicious cycle. Respec gave me Proto Caldari Assault suit... and my GOD.... how much easier the game has become... Time to take another break., if things go south again. Absolutely, man! I always quit playing a game the moment I feel like I'm not enjoying playing the game anymore. A lot of MMO game developers are very clever nowadays on the things they try to do to get us hooked into their games, man. I think one of the thing is the fact that you're constantly "achieving" and getting new things and once you've put a lot of time on something already you don't wanna give up on it easily anymore.
At the same time though, I do think gaming serves a purpose in my life cause it allows me to relax and just take a break from the reality. Just have to be careful on not to make the most time consuming thing in everyday life.
Btw. Got the word "cunty" from powerful Joe Rogan:=) |

Even if he was evenly-matched with the Quaker dude, in the end Ben would just out-MacGyver him ;) He was also a fat pig, the Quaker Oats guy (for this lengthy thread (I just KNOW it) we'll call him Silas Bain) was all trimmed up and regular because of his fiber. So Franklin might not get the chance to cobble up a weapon from a shoe-buckle, a fence-post, and a lantern. Jus' sayin'. Well to be fair that was in a time when having some fat around your belly was still manly, dude. Nowadays you either have to be a skinny jeans hipster or a beach muscle bodybuilder it seems. Well first of all, bro, I don't brag about what I do in video games. I brag about what I do in real life. I mean, yeah I've congratulated the guys for winning some battles, that's all well and good, and even if I did brag about the stuff I do in video games , dude, I'd have nothing to brag about as I haven't done all that many corp battles to begin with.
Now, Cyn, we both know a lot of people will be rotating out when new stuff hits the market, no big deal, bro, and that's one of the things I was saying earlier. You see as I said, if you'd rather play Dust 514 than any other game in the market at this point, well that just tells me Dust isn't all that bad of a game after all. I know I like it, cause otherwise I wouldn't be playing it.

Cyn Bruin wrote: I don't think its a bad game... then again I don't think its a good game. IGN really did get the review of DUST spot on, 5.8 sounds about right. Altho some of that rating is given for potential, which doesn't seem right since all games have potential of some sort.
Will CCP get DUST on track and it become a success? No idea, EVE speaks highly for them, but then again, thats a PC game.
Don't you find it interesting we haven't heard one word about DUST being on the PS4? Think there might be a reason?
DUST being F2P means its not a game you actually have to "give up" it'll always be there in the corner of the hard drive. But will I be playing it over next gen FPS games that come out on the PS4? I doubt it.
Yeah I also agreed most of what IGN review said about Dust 514. I'm not blind and I know the game has more flaws than most games since the NES era, dude. That being said though, I enjoy playing it and I it's pretty much the only video game I play at this moment. The moment I won't enjoy it anymore I'll take a break. I've done it more than once already. And oh yeah I've given feedback to CCP, but I've done it respectfully and constructively.
Speaking of PS4 version, well I don't have a clue. I have no clue where this game will be in 2 years or so. And I don't need any guarantees of great future and promises of PS4 port to enjoy this game right now. I might not even be alive when PS4 hits so the way I see it I just keep doing my thing, and I'm encouraging everyone here to focus on this very moment instead of looking for that next big thing in the future. |

Alright this something I think deserves a whole thread on his own but I'm gonna give you a quick answer here. You see, bro, I find it funny when the average guy sitting on his computer screen, goes on to these rants about how "much CCP fails". I mean, we're talking about self made guys here who put in the hours into a seemingly crazy project that is EVE online. +1 to the OP for the words, I totally agree.
People clearly don't fathom the enormity of what CCP has achieved and is doing bridging the two games together, nor do they understand the complexities of development and release. Sure CCP have made faux pas, but that's part of the course, there will be more, there will be QQ, get used to it and be constructive in the reporting of issues.
Exactly, right. There's a reason why most big game companies do primarily incremental upgrades on their games and the sequels. It's not because they lack creative people or big ideas. It's because the technology has been tested and proven functional and smooth. That's why games like COD play so God damn smoothly and but don't really involve big technological changes. And of course there are also all the business related reasons too.
Now CCP does things a little bit differently. They decided to throw in a lot of new stuff into Dust 514 and when you throw in that much stuff that's totally new, and I'm talking about stuff that's never done before, there's gonna be a LOT of things that don't work properly in the beginning. Now we all know CCP will take their time, but if anyone out there thinks for one second that the problems we have now exist because CCP guys are lazy or unqualified to develop a game, you guys need to do some more research on game development and IT projects. |
