Have you ever played DOOM 3, F.E.A.R., or Crysis1?
Those are just a few examples, but those games were made with ptactically no community feedback, and were examples of making a game come together and be an entity of it's own(my opinion). I always suspected what made them great was they were designed by people with a vison and a directive and they applied it to every aspect of the game. Craig Hubbard, John Carmak, Jack Mamais. They all had a direct idea of what their game should be like and they did just that.
This beats the heck out of a game that is a patchwork of mediocrity. You make weapons behave like weapons, make the characters move how you want them to move, in the environment you created, and you make up new imaginative stuff that fits into your self made universe. Empahsis on "you make it fit" You being the people making this game.
I think the designers need to crunch their numbers, thoroughly test this stuff themselves with their designer eyes, and make a coherent complete game. The community is there to give ideas and suggestions on things they may have never thought of, not to listen to for each and every change. Fact is the majority of players are selfish and want their way/weapon/choices to work the best not evenly.
The community as a whole is not objective.
Just my 2 cents.

No, yours and others' quest to have weapons perform like the weapons they are is an example of an objective community.
Look for some threads about why NOT to do something about the AR because someone likes dominating the field with their out of whack weapon and modded controller.
That is an example of selfish community. |

I use to visit my kids at Daycare. These threads remind me of why I don't visit them there anymore.
