Hello.
To make a mistake is a human thing and most of the time this is acceptable, as long as it can be corrected. However, to rectify problems by making people negative ISK balances is not only morally wrong but bad for business.
People understand mistakes but to "shaft them" to "put things right" is not only the wrong way of doing it but a stupid move as they will make two fingered gestures and leave the game. Let's face it - some people don't read forum notices and will just think that they were being rewarded for their participation in testing the game/beta version and so on.
One example of a very disgruntled player was today as one of our best players in the NOVA TECH MARINES corp. He has left DUST514 and will probably leave EVE ONLINE too as he says he has "had enough of CCP's stupidity and bundling of "putting things right" meaning that the players of the game end up suffering somehow very badly. (His opinion - not mine!!). So, CCP has not only lost a DUST player but an EVE online player too. There will be many more cases like this to come !
ISK has no real value outside of DUST514, unlike AURUM, so I do not understand what all the fuss is about. If they had left things alone and had not tried to alter ISK balances, everyone would be happy and maybe a lot of other new players would be joining in the DUST game or possibly signing up to EVE online too. Which in turn, CCP would benefit from a growing amount of players spending their money on AURUM items and seeing a cash return on their ISK generosity anyway. An increase in ISK balances will also give new players encouragement to play the game too.
Whatever your opinion is, CCP have messed up big style by getting on the wrong side of their players and making them very angry. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO DO BUSINESS.
Alternative ways could be implemented and if the issue in NOT resolved in a fair and reasonable manner, CCP will suffer in the end by losing a lot of its players to other games. CCP don't forget Bungie's "DESTINY" is close to being released soon - I hope you have learned a lesson from this indident. |
