I much prefer the railgun because it's reliable in every situation (is there a guy halfway across the map shooting you with a forge gun? Kill him in one shot! Are you brawling with another tank? Keep your rails cool, and you can deal with that guy/gal like you would with any other turret), but quite frankly, I've seen the stats on some of those missile launchers, and I would absolutely HATE going up against them in close range. I normally gobble up Gunnlogis for breakfast (6000 armor, 1000 shields, 3 25% active hardeners that last for 60 seconds each and a 9% overall resistance DC unit as well as a heavy igl armor repper), but there was this one with a proto missile launcher and every time I tried brawling with it, it just sat there and took down my armor like a mofo. |

Don't bother with missile launchers, they prove inaccurate when your most need them. |

Missile Launchers are a bit niche. They do seem better at Anti-air though than the other two guns unless you're good with the railgun. Missile launchers also work well against stationary targets and large targets but most of the time an equal strength railgun will blow a hole through you blasters are a bit iffy it really depends who is out-tanking the other then. |

Basically. I only use small missile launchers if i'm using any and that's ONLY if I really want to get something into a fit, but need that tiny bit of extra CPU/PG. |

I use large rails with small blasters.
Large rail is just... great. Good damage, RoF, long range (nothing warms my heart more than sniping a forge gunner off of a hill), has a bit of a splash, destroys installations / tanks quickly...
I picked small blasters because I find my gunners get more kills using proto blasters over missiles. They do great damage per shot, and blasters can pump out a lot of shots. Small rails are rarely used. |

In all honesty, if you get REALLY good with railguns to the point where you can nail guys in the chest at 10m, rails, but for most people, blasters, except at range. Missiles are very good anti armor tank weapons but thats about it save some skilled users (General Grodd) |

Really ironwolf... making so much work for me to clean up.
Rail - useful for sniping, best at killing dropships due to alpha
Blaster - useful for everything else, especially infantry
Missile - good for structure bashing?
Shield - trash, less ehp, less rep, less speed, avoid
Armor - USE THESE, THEY'RE WAY BETTER |

You forgot to mention the parts about shield where swarms / AV nades tickle and shields regenerate fairly quickly. |

A shield tank with lots of resistance modules and a particle cannon in the hands of a skilled driver is a superior tank for killing infantry because the resistance to explosives, the dominant AV weapon, is so high, that the effective hit points are huge...until a blaster tank, railgun, or forge gun show up. All in all, shield tanks are way too hard to use if you're starting out. Just get yourself an armor tank, keep a buffer of infantry to your front and flanks, and fit an ion cannon = everything within 50m is dead. |

The flavor of the month is armor with large hybrid turrets, currently the only viable CB tank. |

I'm going to be disagreeing with this. IMO armor tanks feel quicker then shield tanks. Shield feels sluggish and slow to respond. Armor feels like a shield tank did last build.
Edit: and don't listen to IWS he likes to pretend he knows tanking. |

That's because rails had a 5m radius and a lot of splash damage back in the day. |

Due to buffs, missile launcher is semi decent, but not realy, still a weird nich.
No reason not to go large hybrid, even if you plan on rarely touching rails, or blasters, the option allways exists to use one or the other. Got proto blasters, you got proto rails.
They also have different enough playstyles to be worth to have both, and no need to chose, its the same skill. |

Nariec wrote:I'm planning on going for HAV shield, I would like to know from experienced tankers which one is better, Rail Gun or Missile Turret? Gunnlogi has less PG than the Madrugar. Thus, powergrid expansion modules don't give you as much. Which means you have less shield, and you have to use a lesser turret, like an advanced scattered blaster, or advanced railgun. The shield hardeners last for 10 seconds, with a cooldown of 30 seconds. The only good shield modules are the transporters, and at that, they're best on an armor tank to provide an excellent buffer against all incoming AV.
I'm not going back into shield vehicles. I'm sticking with armor. |

Things to consider- With shield tank, if you use missiles, you will almost always have 200-500 more effective health points depending on build and skill points. However, while you will have less health with a railgun, you can also hang wayyyy back from danger, so its not usually an issue if thats your play style. You can also use blasters on your shield tank, but you will lose even more health, so its not usually recommended due to it placing you close to enemies with the range.
It really comes down to how you play, but railgun may force you to hang back until you get skilled with it. |

speaking as a tank vet and old player, the rail gun is probably the best of the 3 turret options for the tanks, it takes 1 shot to kill infantry and it does a lot of damage to instillations and other vehicles, the rail gun is also the most skilled weapon, because you really have to be an expert marksman (or extremely lucky) to hit a target like infantry from across the map or a vehicle that in cover. |

Any word on energy and projectile turrets? The current selection is poor. Unreliable missiles, too short-ranged and fast firing blasters with bad hit markers, and overused, beats all other turrets railguns.... My recommendation is to not skill into any of this junk. Sure, railguns are your safest bet, but doesnt variety of different roles mean anything to anyone? The blasters and missiles are so bad I've seen railguns on enforcer tanks. Wtf is happening? Are tanks just a symbol of wealth instead of their once feared prowess on the battlefield?
They change things up so much were gonna need 10 respecs before we see all 4 racial HAVs. By that time people will have enough sp to have both shield and armor tanks in their arsenal. Maybe that's what they're waiting for...
