I think that switching between weapons and other equipment feels alright when you use the radial menu with a DS3, but it can be quite frustrating using a mouse and keyboard setup. There have been plenty of times where I had to try to coerce the mouse to actually highlight the item that I wanted to select, and by then it was too late.
To solve this issue, I would suggest mapping the radial menu slots to the keyboard's number keys.
1 - Main hand 2 - Off hand 3 - Equipment One 4 - etc...
This would feel much more natural for anyone using a keyboard and mouse; especially when compared to similar games.
I don't think it would give an unfair advantage since the difference between a DS3 radial switch and simply pressing 3 on a keyboard would be negligible. Especially since now, anyone using a DS3 doesn't have to fight to select an item near as much as a mouse does.
Thanks. |

Would have saved my favorite old school mouse, but no! Its now laying on the ground replaced by a "laser" mouse.

This goes hand in hand with the absolute need for complete custom remapping (both for controller users AND keyboard users). It just makes sense, and is the only way to make things logical, let alone usable, with a keyboard and mouse. While we're at it, though, for the squad command interface, those need to be mappable as well; in my experience those are even more finicky than equipment selection, often taking as many as four or five attempts to select the command i wanted (never mind repeating this another four or five times since it doesn't want to lock it onto the target that was clearly centered and highlighted). |

While I'm not talking about complete keyboard remapping, I see how that would be wanted as well.
I'm simply asking to tie those slots to the number keys on the keyboard. They can be hard coded for all I care, but it would still be a vast improvement. |

That said, complete custom remapping is not just inexcusable to have missing (and this has been true since we got more than two buttons and the ability to store data on the cart or something else), and not just for keyboard. It is, however, far more critical for the keyboard, since right now some of the mappings are seriously asinine (caps lock or middle mouse to bring up the unusable-with-mouae radial? It's so unreliable that I actually had one match last night where i gave up assigning orders, dunno what they did over DT yesterday but it seemed like they made an already horrible thing even worse.) |

This is the single biggest issue for me, as a new player trying to get into the game. My preferred role of support, is close to impossible to be effective at with the current setup. It's like a mini-game to select the correct item.
Please update the radial menu to map to number keys ASAP in order to keep players transitioning to the game. |

The radial menu has made it just about impossible for me to play this game now.
I practiced playing a logi just using a basic frame with one equipment slot just to get used to accessing the wheel and selecting an item. With more than one item to select though I can barely function. I try to whip out a repair tool and by the time I've accidentally selected a nano hive twice and finally get out the tool there's no one around me left alive to repair. |

I definitely agree with this idea, now I'm playing caldari logi with only two equipment slots and sometimes it takes ten seconds to chose correct one :/ As for keys remapping, I just can't think of any rational reason why it wasn't coded as game launched. |

+1 - the wheel is really frustrating Hard coded (1 to 0) would be enough, fully customizable keys would be a pleasure (e.g. I prefer walking with ASDX,so atm I often toss nade when retreating) |

+1 This is also very important when using vehicles. When you're in a Dropship and have just been hit by a volley of missiles, you're fighting to get back in control but you also need to get your shield booster running or swap to the second hardener etc. With the radial menu it's virtually impossible.
Also, I'd like to be able to remap the vehicle controls as I'd like, rather than the few options that CCP think I'd like to have.
I also use a logi suit, and the same applies, I've tried to revive somebody with a nanohive more times now that I'd like to remember. I have my repair tool first as it makes it quickest to select. With keyboard mapping, I'd buy a wireless keyboard and have it sitting with me so I could fly or fight, and activate modules as needed.
Full remapping is essential for the continued growth of the game, it would completely remove one aspect of frustration from the playerbase. |

I would also like this as it seems impossible for me aleast to select equipment with the radial on mouse, but I also would like complete remapping of the keyboard to be available also as some control locations feel off to me like grenade and melee which I would like to try sent to different keys, get to work on this one CCP :-) |
