How does mercenary and corporation matches work. I played mercenary but i don't understand the difference from quick matches. How exactly the two games are connected. I think that all this technology/connectivity think should be explained in game much better. Here is an interesting review kukugames |

Merc battles are basically the same as instant battle skirmishes but you can choose which side you're on, which means that you can get as many of your friends as you want on your team, rather than just a single squad.
Corporation battles are only available through the Planetary Conquest system. There's a lot of stuff on the forums about how this works and not enough space in this text box for me to explain it, so do some researching. |

Instant Battles have no effect on the persistence of New Eden, just hop in and play. Mercenary battles (also known as Factional Warfare) affects which NPC corporation controls each district. Also unlike Instant Battles where it's nearly impossible to sync up more than one squad, you can sync up an entire team for Mercenary battles if you hop on it fast enough.
Aside from that there is no real bonus for playing them over instant battles, though there is going to be something eventually for sticking with a certain faction. I tend to play mercenary battles almost exclusively anyways because people there tend to have at least a general understanding of what the heck they are doing. |

There has also been talk (from FoxFour) about using the ISK & loot mechanics from Planteray Conquest in Factional Warfare. the idea being that the payouts and loot you get at the end are based on what equipment was used in the battle rather than just set values and random loot. -If more expensive gear is used up in the battle, the payouts at the end will be greater and the salvage will be better.
This doesn't exist yet. Currently, FW (merc battles) are just like instant skirmish battles with a longer wait in the warbarge. Mind you, there are less AFK farmers in FW because it takes longer to join and they can get in more battles per hour with instant skirmish. That's why I prefer FW. |

Mercenary Battles are Faction Warfare matches and I caution newbies to stay away from them. Corps take them a little more seriously than pubs and so roll better gear in them, also theres nothing more aggravating than coming in, sorting out that you want to fight for your fav faction with a squad of guys and being let down but starter corp players running around doing jack ****. |

In merc battles EvE players can provide special orbitals if they are present and have the right set up on their ship but earning the orbitals works exactly the same from the dust side. Other than that, there is no direct EvE - Dust interaction. Whichever side wins the battle does affect the factional holding in EvE but you can't really see the impact easily from Dust.
Corp battles are a whole other kettle of fish. You can only play them in planetary conquest, which is really only available to the top corps with high active player counts and the highest ability players. There are around 250 districts that can be fought over, each one able to host one battle per day starting during the set reinforcement hour. You can attack any district that is not already under attack but doing so costs your corp 80 million isk each attack and it will take at least 2 - 3 consecutive successful attacks over 2 - 3 days in a row to gain a district. If you don't really plan on taking a district but still want to play some corp battles, it's going to cost you 80 million a match and really isn't worth it. |
