Well, one CPM member (I don't remember who or where it was quoted as there's no tags for their posts in the sub-forums) said that they ARE NOT meant for Balancing. Which makes me sort of scratch my head as the only thing they'd really be after that is the harbinger of new content, something CCP isn't really too crazy about.
So, to be honest, I think the CPM is a small select group of people that has more flash and pizzazz whenever they post on the forums, makes their alliance (Cronos) look more important and gets a free trip to Iceland. Also, they talk to Devs about the same boring **** we talk about.
Then again I could be wrong and they might actually be doing a lot of things that -are- important to the game like... Whatever is not balancing proposals and new content implementation. So that narrows it down to nodding in agreement with whatever CCP says and smiling at the things they don't like. |

One of the infuriating parts of this job is that we cant really go into specifics about what we do and some of the ways we are working to try and make the game better, which means some people assume we are doing nothing. Also, why would we go to iceland? Dust is developed in shanghai...
Iceland, Shanghai, Antarctica - doesn't really matter if you're just there to look at concept art and keep your lips zipped up about it.
Can't talk about you do, CCP won't be specific as to what you do, game obviously isn't getting much better so what we assume can't be too far off. Just look at how the CSM operates.
Honestly, only difference I've seen between the CPM and the CSM is that the CPM actually talks on the forums without saying "no" and only "no" whenever someone proposes a good idea or questions something that looks funny. Then again, you guys were -chosen- and not -elected- so, come time to vote I'd imagine those running will be the most vocal birds in the flock....
.... Until they're elected... Then they just do exactly that: "No."
But, let's talk about something that you guys actually have done: How's that 2+ weeks worth of feedback on the state of Tactical Assault Rifles working out?
Edit: Also, having five people in the CPM seems a little off-putting when they're all from the same general background. Yes, I'm speaking of Cronos. While I normally don't have an issue with this, bear in mind that the things YOU agree with aren't necessarily the things the PLAYER BASE agrees with. This is why representatives are elected in the first place, to prevent the silly things like five people sitting in a room all agreeing on the one thing that 87% of the player-base has an issue with. |

I would, but the CPM has made it painfully obvious they're only concerned about what they want changed, not the player base. To top ot off, at least one member: Iron Wolf Saber specifically, has shown that they're not responsible with the power given by holding it over people heads. See the thread by Jason Pearson regarding IWS to stop calling himself a pilot.
Mich like the CSM, the CPM can't be trusted to represent the players, but their own affairs. This is only compounded when they are not elected, but chosen by CCP - and choosing members of the same background(corp history) isn't that great an ideal either.
It should never -EVER- come down to an issue where our representatives threaten to hold back on bettering the game because of tears and grief. Our representatives need to be chosen more widely, there needs to be more transparency, and there needs to be less room for abuse of power. To date, what the CPM does has not been officially outlined, how they are supposed to operate has not been officially outlined, and there is no code of conduct. Those should have been the first things on the board. |
