CPM,
I would like to talk about implementing an ISD Volunteer Program for the DUST 514 community. There are already many aspects of the ISD program that are in place in this community right now, the only notable missing part is a DUSTepedia, but even then we could in some respects leech off the EVElopedia. Additionally have there been any discussions related to such a program? If so, what has the discussion been about? Can we expect a timeline for this? If there have been no discussions can we possibly have this brought up at the next CPM/CCP meeting?
For those of you who do not know, the Interstellar Services Department (ISD) is a group of volunteers who graciously share their free time in order to assist in a variety of tasks that all go towards supporting and enriching the players experiences in the world of EVE. They answer questions from players, help hunt down and resolve problems, provide news and fiction as well as acting as good-will ambassadors throughout the community.
The following are the specific teams that comprise the ISD:
Equipment Certification and Anomaly Investigations Division. (ECAID) ECAID stands for "Equipment Certification and Anomaly Investigations Division". We are the Bug Hunters, those who volunteer behind the scenes to assist CCP in the attempt to ensure releases are bug free, exploits are quickly identified and excluded, and code testing for release patches. We are present mainly on the internal and external test servers. You will see us on Singularity, we're the ones with purple text, you'll also find us on the coldfront irc network, within #eve-chaos. Our department members are from all corners of the globe, and our work is under a voluntary basis, although run to the strictest of operating conditions.
Support, Training and Resources (STAR) Support, Training and Resources (STAR) is the branch of the ISD volunteer program that helps with player support. They specialize in helping players, new and old with any questions or problems they may have. One of their duties is to personally greet new players, giving them a good start in the game as well as welcoming them to the Eve universe. They also maintain a presence in the help channels providing moderation, support and answering questions where required.
Interstellar Correspondents (IC) The IC team are a group of players who dedicate their time and energy to ISD to bring a wealth of news to the universe of EVE, surrounding anything and everything to do with player-driven events. From fleet battles through racing leagues to alliance tournaments, we aim to bring a broad spectrum of news coverage straight to your screen. Our reporters find stories, research them, interview relevant parties and produce the player news that can be found in the Player News Center, on the login screen and in-game. In more general terms, it is ICGÇÖs goal to become the source of player-driven news within the universe of EVE and a news organization that stands out from that which exists in any other MMORPG, past, present and future.
Mercury(M) Mercury(M) works closely with CCPs content division to create new fiction and stories thus enriching the fictional background of the EVE universe. Mercury have worked on several key projects including the Region Descriptions (of which they wrote the majority), storylines introducing new patch content such as the black ops ships and the boosters, the Code Aria Inquiry, fiction news for the Alliance Tournament and various other storyline and descriptive works for CCP content/storyline. The ongoing work of Mercury concentrates mostly on articles in the faction sections of the player news center as well as in the faction specific militia news pages. The work in this team is varied, there are generally multiple projects running at any one time and the team members need a very good understanding of the fiction of EVE and a good writing ability to be able to join Mercury. Mercury is accepting applicants.
Yulai Archives & Records Repository Team (YARR) The YARR team are a group of volunteers who administrate the EVElopedia. It is our goal to support the community in making the EVElopedia an up to date, useful and easy to use resource. We do this by monitoring new content added to the EVElopedia, finding and reporting bugs to CCP and adding new official content such as Dev blogs and patch notes.
Community Communication Liaisons (CCLs) The CCL team are a group of volunteers who monitor the official EVE Online forum. It is their goal to support the community by helping to maintain the forums as a healthy venue for discussion and enhancing communication between CCP and players. The CCL team can point out threads to the Community team who can then bring them to the attention of the relevant developers and teams. Simply put, the CCL can quickly bring issues to the attention of the Community team so they can get answers to the players as quickly as possible. |

The ISD program in EVE has been a great tool for not only the community to help manage itself, but also provide positive and useful feedback to CCP to ensure that the game is enjoyable by all that use it and wish to be part of the community. It also helps expand and allow player driven content to grow the lore within the New Eden fictional and non-fictional based events.
The most useful of all the above ISD Program teams clearly is the CCL as currently these forums are atrociously moderated and have become somewhat of a cesspool. Linked is what CCP Navigator wrote in 2011 about the role of the CCL on the EVE Online forums. These same aspects should apply to these forums, as well as the other aspects of DUST 514 covered by the rest of the ISD teams.

CCL program has already been started for Dust 514. I would love to see more ISD positions open up further but its at the controls of the ISD devs right now and their leadership. |

Have there been any discussions with the ISD team as to an expected timeline or is this something I need to speak with CCP directly about? |

No we have been busy cleaning up Uprising and Planetary Conquest and had not had the the time to talk with issues about that yet and we're supposed to start quite a few things right now and right now most of the CPM members are on holiday so talking been low. |

CCL is definitely already taking dust players' appplications, and to the best of my knowing... so are all the other teams.
It just hasn't really been advertised. |

Of course they're always recruiting, however some teams may not be Dust 514 assets yet or accepting Dust 514 characters/customers but its always best to ask current members. I think the CPM could try to push the ISD to seek out Dust 514 players next time they're recruiting. |

Also, bear in mind that ECAID (Bug Hunters) will completely forget you even exist more times than not. They're not exactly amazing at their recruitment skills. |

Thank you for the replies.
Nova, currently the only way for a DUST person to apply to the CCL however is to be an active EVE Online player (as the only way to apply is via the Community portal on EVEOnline.com) unless you are referring to directly emailing their team with CV of sorts?
I'm not trying to lobby for a position with them, but the ISD have had a positive influence on the EVE community and thus far DUST514 desperately needs that sort of help given the state of these forums.

Bumping and if anyone feels they're a good candidate for the CCL Team within ISD use this link to apply (you'll need an active EVE Online account through this process)

Hi folks,
sorry I somewhat have missed this thread and want to share some little of the information I have.
CCP is well aware that DUST could benefit of having ISD for DUST as well. The infrastructure in place to support ISD is based on EVE. This means as of right now, if you want to be in ISD, you need to have an active EVE Online account. And by that I do not mean a trial account.
CCL, is the first ISD team that made its first (limited) steps in the DUST community. Granted CCL is the easiest team to implement into DUST. For example the bug hunters need some backend sorted so they could filter bug reports and create defects and STAR would need to access some sort of a help channel some how.
For what its worth, there have been talks with Wang and Frame ( and several others) about this. I know they want to see ISD over here, but a lot of details need to be worked out and that may require some more time.
But if you are really eager to join ISD and have an active EVE Online account please apply!
I have added this thread to my watch list if more questions arise. |

I am pretty sure once ISD for DUST is announced there will be a DEV Blog or at least a sticky thread. |

edit: I think your the first and only ISD that ever posted on the Dust forums. Do you hang out here and dont post, or did somebody tell you about this topic. |

Some members of my team (ISD Suvetar, ISD Dorrim and ISD Tyrozan) were lurking the forums to gather feedback for CCP. But only I have posted on this forums so far.
I am still lurking btw ;-) |

That is bullocks. So what you are saying is that a person would have to pay for the privilege via the EvE subscription. PTW for the WIN! |

OK, so since you clearly missed the part about "We're getting it implemented but its taking more time", he was implying that if you're an EVE Online player and a DUST 514 player, feel free to apply. |

Hate to resurrect a thread, but it seemed the best way to say, "We need CCLs!" The forum (especially the Dust 514/General Discussions forum) have become chock full of trolls, rants and spam.
Any timeframe on when you might be accepting ISD applications from ground-side and/or assigning someone to watch it? It seems like the GMs are probably way overloaded (and on a single set timezone, so every slips by till they do cleanup once in a blue moon ... if ever). |
