As the Subject implies, can we get an actual Developer or PR guy to let us know what the plans are for this? |

"On February 20, 2013, Gaikai announced that PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3 titles would be made available for Sony's upcoming PlayStation 4 console in addition to features like Remote Play for PlayStation Vita."
that explains a-lot, ( KINDA) it also explains why their API system that can modify builds in those layers are working with the vita, so the present thing to assume is that, yes their most likely going to support it, I mean as a person who has some dabbling in development, these texture maps are meant for something a great deal more powerful then the PS3, coupled with the fact that CELL B.E. Processors were the prodigy of their time in 05,06/ //their crap now/// (dont even get me stae=rted on this)//// . I'm assuming their UNDER NDA and the PR and Marketing department would have a bloody nightmare if someone from CCP even regarded this post with a response..
come on, you know you wana riffle the feathers Soxfour :P
As well, The developers have been toying with the OCCULER glasses, the game at fan fest works pretty danm closely with star citizens style of programming.
even more so, their MMO their developing, what was it, city of darkness? Since they own white wolf (some of you may know it as Vampire teh Masquerade, or Mage, or even Wearwolf) their hands have been very full. Im surprised they made as much progress as they have..
^^^ Coincidence? ^^^

Well, i have a shipping manifest here (are they real?) saying CCP has ordered DEV consoles on the ps4, so im asuming their developing on it.. They are definitely working on it. UE3 and UE4 are pretty compatible and the PS4 is the longterm perspective for the game. Just don't expect them to do more than some prototyping and fooling around to get a hang on the tech as early as possible. Edit for shade emry3: I am deperately looking for the fanfest stuff shown of WoD. Is it still made with CARBON? Are there any pictures?
I'll ask around, one of my friends had some neat glasses with cameras in them that they got from ebay, he has a crap ton of footage, I'll see if i can get in touch with him. |

Maken Tosch wrote:I'll give it at least 3 years before the PS4 finally becomes the most common Sony console in the household. I say this based on the actual history on how consoles tend to take a very long time AFTER they are officially released to become a common item in the market to the point where the previous models are rarely seen in one's living room.
Most of my friends won't even bother ordering the PS4 let alone the Xbox One for several reasons:
SONY's PS4
1. No backwards compatibility. 2. Vague details regarding the use of pre-owned games and how Sony is going to deal with that market. 3. More than likely will become pricey as hell just like the PS3 was.
Microsoft's Xbox One
1. No backward compatibility 2. Installation of the game is mandatory. 3. Must delete installation upon returning the hard copy back to the store. 4. $52 activation fee for every time you install a pre-owned copy. 5. Hardly any improvement towards hardware architecture. 6. Mainly designed for home theater entertainment.
EDIT:
Note: Both consoles will require constant internet connection. For those players who lack internet in their own home and have to borrow their neighbor's internet, they're SOL.
So is the way of life of cloud computing, and if you read anything at all, the earlier wikis points to a cloud solution their going to use for ps1,2,3 support. I'm sorry to say, but this is a result of piracy as well as an incentive to make money.. Adapt or die, its natures number 1 rule. |

If I were a developer I'd rather you play my game for free, than pay SOMEONE ELSE to play my game. In each case, I would make no money, but at least if you pirate it some third party isn't making a profit off of my work. If they really do make it so that things like Gamefly and Gamestop go away then they are taking a step in the wrong direction. Used games, rented games and shared games are nothing to scoff at and honestly after seeing what Xbox 1 is turning into I doubt I will be purchasing that system. Also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbWgUO-Rqcw Buying used saves you what? $5 usually? And for that $5 savings you screw the developer out of making ANY money off the sale? It's a terrible and selfish practice, and frankly, it's only legal because making it illegal is too difficult to enforce. If game prices on consoles scaled based on age and popularity like they do for PC, no one would care about buying used. I haven't paid full price for a videogame in years, and I never buy used... then again, I never buy my games on little plastic discs either. **** the developers. Greedy snarky little bitches, selling you a game for $60 that isn't even complete and then charge you upwards of $60 or more totaling $120+ just for content that would equal what a game used to come with for $40-$50 dollars. I love my Gamefly. I get to play all the new games and then send them back when I am done with them and it only costs me a couple bucks a month and over half the games I rent from them are so crap I would of stopped buying games all together because of how sad the market is now. I would feel bad for developers if more than half of the trash they released every year was worth half as much as the trash they released last year. Unfortunately we have left the era of great games though and now it is all about killing more monsters or higher res visuals or continuing that quest that noone really wanted to play in the first place but you just happened to be the only game that was kind of decent at the time. I find it funny that my NES collection is still my biggest game collection and still like 99% of those games more than half of every other systems games I own. Hell I only have 7 PS3 games that I actually own because the rest weren't worth more than a rental to even have them. Well, that's fine, and I pretty much completely agree with you. Most games, especially on consoles, suck. That doesn't change the reality of how games work though. There is no difference from a game you buy on a little plastic disc and one that you download online, aside from the medium you purchased it. So why should the guy who buys the plastic disc be able to sell access to the game to a third party, but the person who downloads the game cannot? It just doesn't make any sense, and to argue otherwise is to be a bit of a Luddite. Honestly, I'll be surprised if disc based gaming isn't a small niche market within 5 years anyway, reserved for only those with particularly poor ISPs.
well i see it like this..in 1980, it was big to have a phone, costly to.... now its present day and even fading to black with cell phones and email...but still used. now for those that do not have a phone? well they need to be more focused on getting their life in order more so then a game, and those complaining should instead not see how much its going to suck, but more so go "what can i do to make sure i'm not negatively affected by this?" Technology takes leaps and bounds, if you want to stay behind, then do so on your token, don't drag the others back with you that wants to progress to new ends because you dilute yourself with reasons and explanations to only drive and re-enable your own actions to a non productive means.
that's how i see things, and i was poor my entire life until i decided to change my name and start making a life for myself... so i think I'm ok to speak about this,
and i do think this thread is based on a request for an official statement, not one from those needing to vent? which i think we already got? *looks up the posts* Yup
Again my two cents.. |
