Well, i have a shipping manifest here (are they real?) saying CCP has ordered DEV consoles on the ps4, so im asuming their developing on it.. They are definitely working on it. UE3 and UE4 are pretty compatible and the PS4 is the longterm perspective for the game. Just don't expect them to do more than some prototyping and fooling around to get a hang on the tech as early as possible.
Edit for shade emry3: I am deperately looking for the fanfest stuff shown off WoD. Is it still made with CARBON? Are there any pictures? |

Schalac 17 wrote: Then they plan for DUST to fail in about a years time when UE3 and PS3 fall off the face of the earth because 90 million people have moved on to the PS4 and next xbox. As much as people want to say that they will stay with previous generations tech, we all know they don't. Only a small amount of those poor bastards that are jobless or in debt will not move on once the new consoles are released.
Every new generation took one to three years to surpass their precedessor in market adoption and the old generation doesn't vanish with the next gen release. Quite contrary, the userbase will still be growing well beyond the PS4 release and those are most definitely not "poor bastards that are jobless or in debt".
You saying otherwise is at odds with reality i'm sorry to inform you. |

The PS4 won't block used games, The Xbox 1 will though with it's Used Game Fee, PS4 does not require an internet connection at all, let alone constant. Neither does the Xbox, though, on Xbox you must sign in at least once every 24 hours. Read my post again. You seemed to have missed a few details. I didn't say used games won't work on the PS4. I said the PS4 won't be backwards compatible. You also said that both systems require a constant internet connection which is a lie, or misinformation if you just don't know. So why would we take the rest of your post at face value knowing there is wrong information in it? Xbox one provides the technology for always on restriction. I think we all know what Activision/EA/Ubisoft is gonna do with it.

Expect plans as they get closer to options being available. The chief of marketing did actually slip gaikai is their current plan a few months ago. Hopefully that has changed. He said the Gaikai was a wonderful tool. Not that they're going with it. I've tested the service before Sony took it off the net and i felt that the was latency unbearable for anything beyond building simulations, FPS games were effectively unplayable for me.
I love the basic concept but i can't imagine how they gonna make this enjoyable in it's recent implementation.

Baal Roo wrote:Schalac 17 wrote:Baal Roo wrote:I'm glad they're cutting used games out of the market. Developers will make A LOT more money towards developing better games. Buying used games is ethically much shadier than pirating.
If I were a developer I'd rather you play my game for free, than pay SOMEONE ELSE to play my game. In each case, I would make no money, but at least if you pirate it some third party isn't making a profit off of my work. If they really do make it so that things like Gamefly and Gamestop go away then they are taking a step in the wrong direction. Used games, rented games and shared games are nothing to scoff at and honestly after seeing what Xbox 1 is turning into I doubt I will be purchasing that system. Also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbWgUO-Rqcw Buying used saves you what? $5 usually? And for that $5 savings you screw the developer out of making ANY money off the sale? It's a terrible and selfish practice, and frankly, it's only legal because making it illegal is too difficult to enforce. If game prices on consoles scaled based on age and popularity like they do for PC, no one would care about buying used. I haven't paid full price for a videogame in years, and I never buy used... then again, I never buy my games on little plastic discs either. The developers will see but a blurred shade of those five bucks as they get sucked into the publisher's account. Let's not pretent that this measure is even remotely aimed to fund those who make the games. DRM wasn't, always on wasn't and neither is this smartass move.
