Drop suits are heavy and made of advanced, tough stuff. So if every time you ran somebody over, you received damage to the LAV, it would fit the lore.
The heavier the suit, the more damage.
I couldn't hit a rabbit with my car without needing to make sure there's no damage. Couldn't imagine a HUMVEE or APC today being able to slam in to a 1tonne+ heavy suit scratch free. |

I have 3 people I squad with. each have a main and an alt. and none of us have AV grenades.
The k/d ratio of people driving around running people over seems dis-proportionately high for the SP or equipment slot cost of having AV. Free LAV vs SP invested in grenades and using up a slot for this one issue that doesn't make sense in the first place.
Especially for my heavy bros (I don't play heavy). |

you get AV nades withe first level of grenadier. IMO you are stupid to not have the atleast that. you get to carry one more frag and it costs you less PG/CPU. you should probably hang yourself |

If its not big enough to use a grenade slot, not equipment slot, then its not big enough for the devs to go in and change the game |

Heavy Bro here. Logically if a LAV is running into me with my heavy suit on. There should be a huge amount of damage done to that LAV. Hell, I am able to shoot off a Forge gun and not be touched by the force coming from it. Yet a pansy ass LAV magically knocks me down?
Now with that said. It really hasn't effected me. I've adapted to staying close to cover and using random poles as cover when I see a LAV has been dropped in. I have even come to enjoy the 1 v 1 moments I've had when a scout is to afraid to take me head on (smart decision) and instead tries to run me over, shoot me etc. Especially when I get lucky enough to shoot them out of the drivers seat.
Is it broken, maybe. Does it really effect a lot? It could in PC with people running 200k suits, but in most PC everyone is running AV grenades and you don't have idiots riding around trying to randomly run over people. You're busy taking objectives. There are bigger fish to fry than the people who get board at times and like to run people over. Me included
Though if you feel strongly about it. Post it in the suggestion/bug section. Contrary to popular belief, they do try to pay attention over there, even more so if you're respectable and don't rant about it. Not saying that you are by the way

Supposedly, they're working on vehicles taking damage when running people over. Right now, there's no drawback when there needs to be. |

I got highly advanced armor plating and shielding systems on my LLV. Plus, I sunk a **** ton of SP into it. So, making me get damage for running you over makes no sense. This is what you get for breaking my HAV's. Fix them, and fix the camera' on the remote reppers, and I'll stop using them as murder taxis.

Peace, Godin You couldn't assume I was only talking about free LAVs? Of course if you invest in your LAV, the damage from running over a medium suit would not be noticeable. That's what makes this solution elegant.
It scales.
Free LAVs will hit 3/4 med suits before being destroyed. Your upgraded LAV could charge in to 5 heavies before it needs repairs.
If a light/scout gets hit by an LAV, free or SP-invested, then they need more situational awareness |

The truck will still need repairs after the impact.
My suggestion is scalability to the damage. so SP-invested LAV drivers will take less damage due to stronger hulls or shields. |

Quote:Another thing on the to-do list is to be able to tune how collision damage is handled when hitting infantry with a vehicle. Currently, collision damage is based on scaling physics impulses to hp damage values (while using a minimum threshold). When a vehicle runs into a wall or another vehicle, this works well enough, but hitting a infantry in terms of physics really isn't a big impact.
However, because there's very little impact, the vehicle will take next to no damage and the result is this LAV roadkill epidemic we're having where running over people seems to be a very popular offensive tactic. Running over people is just fine, but we may want to adjust the risk/reward for doing so.
Shayz - Thanks for the feedback. To respond to your concern: This is in-game physics, not perceived physics. A mesh that looks like it is armor, and has a lot of hitpoints on it has no bearing on how the physics system of a game works. The values that matter in this sort of a case is the volume of both meshes colliding, the density values of the physics materials on each mesh, the stiffness and material damage multipliers of each object colliding, and the damage threshold of the object whose HP you are looking at.

yea I dont know what you are talking about I love the new ever present lav it gives me a reason to build a swarm fit again, things haven't been this good for the AV guys since we got WP for damage done. Lavs need to stay the way they are, LAVing will go away when people start skilling into AV, you may think this is bullshit, but every match im in gets a lot of lavs at the start thanks to me doing it first, then after the first 5 or so LAV kills very few lavs show their faces and those that do meet my swarm before they can run anyone over. |

common problems of the current build in order of importance
1) loading freeze bug 2)PC LAG 3)Tac ar's over saturating 80% of the gun game market 4)free lav's turning this game into twisted metal.
