You can see the enemy Uplinks from almost everywhere on the map, it gets rid of the point of placing them in good areas.
I dont know why you done this CCP, but I'm sure no one ever complained about Uplinks. |

They should make higher tier Uplinks have a low scan profile. That way, you would have to use an Active Scanner to find them. |

If it was placed in a good spot, more often than not, it's difficult to kill. Not to mention to uplink killer(s) runs the risk of having to deal with spawners.
Dont get me started on those people who literally put double uplinks EVERYWHERE. |

Yes.
Scanners should pick up equipment, or atleast there should be a variant that does it.
Would help with spotting Explosives placed on letters.
I want to spec into the Proto ones, but not if they're just going to light up the whole map for everyone to see. |

Uplinks EVERYWHERE is a recent tactic brought over from PC. It's a manditory tactic to win.
As for higher level uplinks having lower profile, I like the idea.
I think requiring scanners to find them would be pretty cruel but would make it a necessary piece of equipment for most teams though it would give spawners a greater advantage than they already have which is honestly quite significant now that they spawn in invisible and invincible for a few seconds already.
1. pulls out scanner 2. scans area 3. finds uplink 4. calls out uplink 5. goes over while switching weapons X. is probably killed somewhere between steps 2 and 4 |

Any character that has spent a decent amount of skill points into scan precision/range modules should be able to see low tier Uplinks in their radar without the need of a scanner.
however...
As the quality of the Uplink increases, the more difficult it would be to detect. You would need better skills and modules to counter them. There could be Uplink variants that specialize in being covert. So much so that it would require a prototype Active scanner to find successfully. |

what kind of BS is this? THey broke it making every nab on the map see your uplink.. And no its not hard to destroy them, which is why I have to redeploy almost EVERY time I die.. which is dumb, and makes me just not give a **** about hacking or the rest of my team..
Which is the way the game is going, its so broken at this point I see people (including myself) just pass up on hacking etc, where as I used to be THE hacker on my team EVERY time.. now i just dont give a ****.. |

Have you even played Domination!?
The winner is usally the team with the most uplinks around A.
Lol, destroying the uplink by itself is easy but destroying one with enemies spawning on it with them carrying more uplinks... |

not every droplink has players spawing through it constantly..that is rare, and even in Domination they get taken out no problem.. You really got your mind out of Dom mode |

You don't play Domination much, do you?
No spawning on A and so everyone is using uplinks. If one team has A surrounded by uplinks then the other teams attacking an unlimited supply of enemies at A. If the attacking team didnt know where those uplinks were, they would have no hope |

I've searched the forums and can't find and DEV or GM comments on uplink scan profiles.
There's nothing obvious in the Uprising patch notes.
Can we please have a DEV comment to tell up what's going on? Is this intended behavior or a bug?
P.S. CCP: it's flat out sad to have to beg for information like this.

Uplinks are OP and the proto levels need to be revamped.
One throw-away derpship and a logi suit outfitted with three different proto uplinks can create a virtual, near-permanent CRU that is out of reach of any counter, save trying to get a dropship up to destroy the uplinks. this same tactic works on any map, any game type.
One dedicated uplink deployer, carrying three different proto uplinks, can lay enough uplinks to spawn 130 clones.
CCP needs to make uplinks to only work for the squad that deployed them. Multiply active uplink types need to have their maxspawn reduced OR give the uplink a chance to fail with each spawn-in.
CCP seems to develop the base item then buff and buff up to proto level. This is one item's development that should be handled in reverse.
[Thanks to vehicle recall, the dropship can be recalled instead of thrown away] |

I honestly see drop uplinks as the Dust equivalent of cyno beacons, that's why they show up so easily and from so far: it's a massive freaking BEACON to home in on and send you into the fight (we'll assume it's something based on jump drive tech, as that makes the most sense given that it's teleportation that uses a beacon).
I don't really see an issue having them as-is: they're insanely useful, can be placed in nigh-impossible places to reach, and honestly you can use their very nature as a beacon to lure enemies into a killbox (granted friendlies would be in the killbox when they spawn on it, but with FF disabled eveywhere except PC, this is hardly an issue; that said, FF being off anywhere outside of instant-action high-sec is itself an issue). |

Have to agree with a lot of what you say, Geirskoegul. From a lore perspective, they're a freakin' wormhole. At a guess i'd say they should be easy to detect.
My primary point is that it would be helpful and not unreasonable for somebody from CCP to let us know if the current changed behavior is intended.
Another point is that we coped with hidden uplinks in Chromo just fine, and we now have the active scanners, which would make hunting uplinks a trivial undertaking. |

I get what you guys are saying about having the uplinks pop up on your radar, it makes sense and I agree. But it needs to be subject to your scan radius. Why on earth can you spot these things at the corner of your radar, it makes no sense.
Yeah I know what you'll say, 10 meters is a terrible scan radius. Yes, I agree. The problem starts here, everyone needs a better base scan radius because right now it's pointless. Fix that and active scanners wouldn't be a necessity (though still helpful for more range), just patrol your area and you'll find them before you get too close (instead of camping one spot then seeing it pop up from anywhere on your radar). |
