I've heard recently that in the future, various tactical add-ons will be available to equip to one's weapons. That got me thinking. Dust is all about customization, right? What if it was so custom that you could buy and equip new ammunition types for different weapons on your dropsuits? Here are some of my ideas:
Assault Rifles
- Exosive Pellets: Pellets that have no initial impact damage, but rather have a slight delay before setting off miniature electron explosions, resulting in increased damage than regular AR shots. The advantages would be increased damage and slight splash damage to others very close by. Disadvantages would be the delay in explosion, making it a hard weapon to use without cover nearby. Upgrades could exercise less explosion delay and more splash damage.
- Ricochet Shots These bullets would ricochet off of most surfaces, including dropsuits. Advantages include the ability to shoot against walls to hit enemies around a corner and hitting multiple enemies with one bullet. Disadvantages include decreased damage and the chance of shots ricocheting back at the shooter. Upgrades could include increased ricochets before a bullet becomes destroyed and increased damage.
Mass Drivers
- Scatter Bomb: On impact, the canister releases a small, weak explosion followed by the dispersal of multiple smaller canisters of higher damage. Advatages include higher damage range and more damage with all canisters combined. Disadvantages include weak spots where smaller canisters aren't released. Upgrades could include more secondary canisters released and increased damage.
- Timed Explosion: A regular mass
driver canister, except about a second's delay before exploding.
Shotguns
- Multi-Shot: Shoots four condensed shotgun shots at once, each slightly spaced from the others similarly to a double-barreled shotgun. Advantages are that it works at a greater range and causes significantly more damage if all shots make contact. Disadvantages are that there is no shot at the direct center of where you're aiming and each individual shot causes less damage. Upgrades include more bullets per shot to cover a wider area and increased damage.
All bullet types would be available for all variations of that weapon. Tell me what you think of these. More ideas coming soon! |
