There is at least one player that spends the entire match running people over in a vehicle, but then has the audacity to brag on chat about his K/D ratio as if it took skill to obtain his numbers.
I believe most of us see this as an FPS game.
So I was thinking, what if we had a total K/D, but a separate breakdown for non-weapon K's. It might discourage the idiots from plowing through the legitimate FPS players that just want to master their weapons and grow skills in the system.
At least it would remove the bragging rights anyway. This guy I referred to was actually saying on chat that he would allow "noobs the honor of squading up" with him. Why, because you are going to teach them all your great skills?, you jerk! Errrrhh! |

I agree with you in part.
That is why I believe they should keep the K/D for totals as it is now, but just have a separate number that is of all the kill you had, how many were non-weapon. It tells a better story if people are going to use K/D as their creditials for joining a corp. or bragging about their prowess. |

Cross Atu wrote:KDR really is just a bad stat in Dust, it's bad because is too general to be meaningful.
Did that kill actually cost a clone? Did that kill cost a fit, and did that fit cost more or less than what was lost to accomplish it? Did that kill require dealing 10 pts of dmg to a wounded foe or was it a sidearm kill of a proto heavy? Was that kills a guy in a proto HAV or an afk red dot?
The list goes on and on. It's not that KDR is conceptually irrelevant, it's that the stat itself in the way it tracks and displays both kills and deaths is too vague to be valid. So sure add a separate category for vehicle kills, and weapon types, and suit types killed, and actual bleedout deaths (you know the ones which cost the team something) et al. Add lots of sub-categories which provide actual specific information. Because even if you're talking about the skill required to make a kill it's not like that's the same for someone rocking a TAR and contact nades as it is for someone with a basic AR and militia nades (not to mention any of the other various weapons).

UGH!!!! I wish you weren't right, but you are. I still hate that somebody spends the whole match in a vehicle running people over and they get these huge KDR numbers. However, when you put it the way you put it, it's probably not feasible to try to count everything. Although my idea is a little more basic, weapon or non-weapon.
You also make me realize that they do need to account for revival's by injectors. I get a huge percentage of my points via injectors. It would be nice if somebody kept track of how much equipment was saved by a Logi with injectors and repair tools. Seems like an important number to track. Equipment saved or clones revived or something. |
