CCP Explain it to me as though I was a 2 year old
Just how does the server connection for the PC battles differ so much from normal battles that I only ever get 3 out of 6 bars (while factional warfare gives me a solid 5 out of 6 bars 90% of the time and a 4 out of 6 the rest, with only the rare 3 or below & even twice that I got a 6/6)... and a laggy mess, whereby my cooked grenade insta-kills take about 30 seconds or more before I see a +50. (I need another HDD as my 8 are full of avi files at the moment and I can't record for visual ha-ha's.)
So here I am back again seeking some information about the situation.
Basic 1. Would you say that it is better to load into a PC battle individually or already in squads?
2. Also, I would like to confirm that some sort of PING Calculation Voodoo goes on for the first people to load in, can you confirm the nature of the voodoo? (Am I just not rigging the game enough to have players from 6 different zones in one squad?) Does it use the SL as a Host type thing?
3. How about changing squad composition, switching player 1 from squad 0 to to squad 1? 3.1 Is it better to not squad up at all?
4. What effect does changing the voice chat server from team to squad or even to corp during the warbarge multiple times have on the stability? What would you recommend using based on your stability studies as the best course of action, just leave it on Squad and be done with it or bounce around like a jack-rabbit in heat?
Advanced 1. Would it make a difference if you have the game option, setting for server location preference set to North America?
2. What about the squad itself and their connection, what if 1 player has the absolute worst internet, ping over 150, jitter at 4 and say 2-3% packet loss. What if there are multiple users like this on 1 team, how much will this effect a normal stable internet squad member(s) connection?
Complex 1. You have no in-game way to tell me if my connection is open, moderate or strict (say what you want about the game series that does this and has p2p hosts, at least it tells you that), just the BARS and I have my ps3 in a DMZ off my router with a NAT type of 2, what if someone isn't configured to play as nice with others or has an old router with a out-dated firewall technology and a nat3 but can still launch in to the warbarge?
Since I have been waiting for almost a month to learn just what the 2X explosives skill error is, I wonder what information the forum feels like throwing my way this time for asking a few questions of the game makers.

I felt this was time for a bump since no one has any answers, not even the devs as to what is wrong with PC. |

Yeah I read that one, funny is how I asked the question of CCP and then it took them almost 2 weeks to get to it, and not even anyone else on the forum made a post about it, normally my ideas go on to bigger and better things for others.... I'm sure somebody will run with the same questions phrased differently in a few days and get a dev response or post about it. |

CCP Cmdr Wang June 7th 2013
Dear players,
We have been investigating the issue of frame rate drops experienced by players during Planetary Conquest batles and also when participating in voice chat channels of 10 or more people. We have identified some of the causes and recommend the following to help alleviate this situation, especially for players participating in Planetary Conquest battles.
1. Try to keep your voice chat channels to 6 or fewer players if possible. 2. If you have to be in a custom voice chat channel with numerous players, consider using the Push-to-Talk (PTT) feature. PTT can be toggled on and off in the COMMS menu or in the Options menu of your NEOCOM.
We understand that PTT may not be ideal for all combat situations, thus we recommend assigning key team members such as squad leaders to turn PTT off and other squad members to keep PTT on. When in battle, leave larger custom channels in favor of smaller squad channels for best performance.
We are working to solve this issue and we hope to have an update on our progress soon. In the mean time, we thank you for your patience, and remember, PTT is your friend.
I have some follow up questions.
A. What does having a corp channel full of say 30 people all talking over each other do for the 16 members of that corp in a PC battle?
A1. Does that mean we should avoid using the team chat channel to vocally discuss strategy entirely in the warbarge or just in battle? (Does that count as a custom channel?) The teams only option is to use Team Chat, just so the squad leaders can communicate, but I as a soldier don't need to know what is going on at that level. What about written communication in these channels (I can't imagin anyone or let alone a lot of non-KB&m users from using the written aspect but I thought why not ask it is not likely to get a response)?
B. What effect does having an over-active Local channel play on the LAG situation? I have had to block a lot of Huckleberry's so far and it is only getting worse, Is there a Limit to the number of players I am allowed to block?. I have noticed that a in-match lag spike seems to sometimes correspond with seeing multiple large, full, max sized alllowed posts in the local... I chaulked it up to me just seeing a pattern when there was none, but who knows really. What is the point of the LOCAL Channel again, why is it there?
C. When you made every officer recieve every message about every little thing done in a corp, sometimes going back for the open beta weeks - what role does having hundreds if not thousands of messages saying bob gave 1isk to the corp and too much mail built up in general play on the in-game stability? ie Should they spend hours and countless restarts to achieve the cleaning... how close are you to rolling out the ability to delete more than 50 at a time? |

I'm envious. So many people getting their posts locked and an actual reply from CCP, yet not even the trolls touched this one and I made it so easy.
Do I think in three weeks or so when we get the next update to the mess, that this list of problems will grow or shrink... tough choice.... of course none of these issues are being high priority and merely a request for them to define what is going on these days.
Of the friends of mine I convinced to try this game, not one has stuck with it, and they are all asking me to play other games now, I was hoping to use this game as the last one until the ps4, but it looks like there is no point. |

I decided to bump this so ccp can respond, now that they "fixed" the problem with pc frame rate lag.... surprise surprise - it was related to voice comms.
But according to some posts, the problems are still there... wonder what that could be about. |
