Hi.
Just want to give everyone an update on how I'm doing. (DUSTbook.)
I have just increased my stock of Logi LAVs from 10 to 15, not a major increase but the fittings cost about 250,000 ISK each. My reason from increasing this is using my Logi LAV every game, I make almost 5 times what it is worth before I lose it. (So over a mil, this one I'm running has actually made 1.5mil, gave it to a friend and got it blown up :D)
When running my 1.3mil tank, chances are I only make 250k, because it's such a big target, is under constant attack and I usually get OB'd.
I also am maintaining a far better KDR per game, a bad game results in 1 death, but I usually managed 10-30 kills every game.
But yeah, just an update CCP so you know why most Vehicle Players are switching to LAVs instead of Tanks, it's far more profitable and less risky.

Oh, just updating the post, instead of going awful with militia gear, I'm running a KDR between 10-30/0-1 |

This is what is wrong with Vehicles in DUST.
I believe I've addressed two major issues in two threads, this one and this one |

Standard Tanks, aye.
But, we do need our Advanced and Prototype Tanks, along with Advanced and Prototype Enforcers and Marauders. |

Then please, remove every single Advanced and Prototype item from the game, let's make it completely noob friendly, because that's what this game needs to be more like. |

- Jase. It's still as SP-intensive as tanks because you basically need all the same skills.
A fair point, I was merely commenting on the fact this game, which iirc had something about the whole Risk v Reward thing going for it, doesn't offer anything when you risk your millions compared to a LAV which costs pennies in comparison. Like you said, costs the same SP-wise, shouldn't that mean I should have a similar amount of survivability in a Tank as I do in a Logi LAV?
The fact is, one can survive very easily in a Logi LAV, even against higher tiers of AV, for example, Lai Dai Packed AV Grenades (And to deny it's right as a proper AV weapon is foolish, as it does more than Swarms at its equivalent meta level), my Gunnlogi (Caldari HAV) will take 3, before I have lost my shields and the weak armor underneath is visible for all to see. I cannot move fast enough to get away as the Shield Tank is the slowest on the field. Whereas my Charybdis (Caldari Logi LAV) can take 4-5 of them (I need to do a bit more testing, 4 I can always take, though I have taken 5 and survived) and still escape.
The Logi LAV has speed, high HP and is very capable of dealing massive damage due to its ability to run people over whereas the HAV has.. well.. it has a rather large gun that cannot shoot that far.. When your military buggy has more defence than that of a Heavy Assault Vehicle, there may be a problem.
Back to the risk vs reward, a top of the line Gunnlogi will cost about 1.3 million ISK, it will go boom a couple of AV Grenades, and unless you have squad support, you're likely to die a quick and fiery death. A top of the line Charybdis costs me 218k ISK (Give or take a few hundred, let's say 220k max.) That's the equivalent of about 5-6 Charybdis to every 1 Gunnlogi. I rarely survive more than three matches with a Tank unless I'm redline camping, those who say they survive every match usually come up against no opposition. And it definitely doesn't survive a PC battle if you're actively taking part. Usually nets me about 700k, just over half it's worth.
The Charybdis on the other hand, yes, it will go boom if you play stupidly, but being a smart vehicle player will allow you to survive many matches, many more than you could in a Gunnlogi (Which I play as smart as I can, I'm not Rambo.), the constant ability to make a million ISK per LAV, nearly 5x what it's worth and allows you to have a KDR of around 15 is insane in comparison. My record is 37/0 in a LAV, said LAV lasted around 15 matches.

Skihids wrote:Wow, I have to hit the road more, or rather I have to hit more mercs. I'm not getting nearly the same number of kills racked up.
Of course I have to drive a touch more conservatively seeing as I'm driving the standard Gurista Saga which while half your cost is a bit more delicate.
The Logistics LAV is well worth the extra SP if you ever spare it, makes me a lot more money than any other Vehicle in the game. With a Saga, you run the risk of running into a Logi LAV and it will blow you up, should you crash into each other. |

Just run into tight spots to run down people and my only deaths are when I get stuck in some structure and can't move, with half a dozen reds looking at me.
Only 3 types of deaths happen to me.
Get stuck, blown up or killed out of LAV Run into a decent blaster tank, get cocky and die. AV Grenade hits me in the face instead of the car. |

My logi LAV is the shield version and its fast and fun
Problem is it flips a bit too easily plus AI turrets are annoying
It wont replace my tank but i wouldnt mind whacking into it a few more skills to make it better but its a 6x skill and lvl5 is like what 1.8mil
Prob best in assault due to no turrets really unless they all got taken out in the 1st place
Already solved the issue with flipping it over without having to get out and manually flip it. And the Turrets are non issues if you fit it right, Blasters a little bit of a pain, faster than the Railgun installations and lolmissiles. |
