After watching this, I asked myself Should CCP have gave out special review copies that had a Character with 100 million Sp and 100 mill ISk, These Characters would self terminate in 2-3 Weeks. This Would allow them to see what its like playing with Proto gear compared to militia and experience almost everything the game has to offer, from Tanks to Dropships and every suit and every weapon. They could then compare the high sp character to a new low SP character and see and advise new player what types of challenges they will face but then also tell them the rewards of having high SP. I feel this would be a rather balanced approach to reviewing. |

I would rather see special 1000% SP boosters provided for official review purposes, so they really can make their char/role.
And experience the horrors of fighting full Proto squads while still in rubbish gear. |

Yes and no. Yes to give an impression of the lategame experience, the intricate fitting system and allow testing of different playstyles. No to the extend that reviewers also need to play a new character for some time (if not the majority) to evaluate the NPE. |

I am half and half on this. somone may blow all the sp away into wrong places and still make a bad character that gets ROFL stomped. |

No amount of SP would save this reviewer from being an idiot and getting so many facts completely wrong.

it's not as if he doesn't understand the concept of getting stronger the longer you play, the better you allocate your points. Letting him play in God mode just gives him the experience of pubstomping. You can't set conditions on which a reviewer plays the game to have certain experiences, that's what previews and demos are for invites are for. |

I don't know that an SP and ISK windfall would help improve the reviewers' opinions of this game. When people talk about the great potential DUST has, they don't just mean how awesome it'll be to have a character maxed out in a role or two - after all, the ability to shoot straighter, alone, won't differentiate DUST from the other popular shooters currently on the market.
DUST's potential will only be realized when all of its unique features and systems have matured and can work together, gracefully, to deliver the same type of immersive gameplay (and its meta) that EVE Online players have come to know and love. Really, when that happens, the shooting will be of minor concern - a means to an end, rather than the focus of the game and that will truly separate DUST from the herd. |

its the same basic issue with whatshisname's (the jackass who does nothing but ***** about games and everyone seems to think hes just SO funny) review of EVE... the issue isnt really in not having skills(i mean yea it would help) but in the fact that they review it under the false preconception that most single player games give us about our characters being the MAIN CHARACTER and therefore have no need for worthless peons that you all call allies...
All in all reviewers should atleast try the social aspects in an MMO or say "hey im ignoring a huge part of the game here so maybe you should watch someone who doesnt halfass their damn job" |

I'll have to agree with everyone else. While giving them a strong starter account would certainly help them enjoy the game more, but they wont experience what its like to be a new player, which is one of the worst experiences I had to overcome when playing this game.
With more emphasis on gear than skill, I cant blame some of the bad reviews about imbalances and getting pubstomped. I dont think reviewers are gonna play a game for 1-3 months just to write a review on a game that released today.
Edit: Then again if they wanted to play as a newberry, they could simply make a second character to see what its like so they can enjoy both worlds. |

So far the reviwers tend to be idiots anyways so they would prob somehow waste that SP and still be bad at the game and still use milita gear |

Unfortunately the main issues with the game are not with the skill system, but with basic game mechanics. Giving reviewers more SP won't help, as you face the same issues whether you have 1 or 10m SP.
Also, giving them 100m SP wouldn't give them a new player experience. It takes weeks and weeks of gaming for a casual to get into a proto suit, which is an entirely different experience than getting pubstomped in militia gear after you get thrown out of the n00b games. |
