Title says it all. Oh wait, guess it doesn't.
Well then let me make a list..
- Matchmaking currently stacks premade's one on side, and throws solo players on the other side. Either that, or it's apparently that easy to game the system in to placing multiple full squads on one team. Either way, talk about discouraging.
Which ties nicely in to..
- The stomping power of 6(or more than 6, see above case) full proto-fit squads completely tends to crush any chance of competitive play among players without that level of gear or who are unwilling to field that level of gear against superior numbers.
- There is no 'intelligent' method in place right now to rack and stack players based off of skill, gear, skill points, or any other seeming method other than FCFS into the queue.
- There is no 'Solo queue' version of any game system (Heck, even CoD figured this one out early), which only compounds the above problems.
Which leads to..
- The AFK epidemic: Why play against horribly unmatched odds when you can AFK. AFK countering has been around for ages - heck, there's a bit of it in right now. I'm starting to think that it's still there because if they put it in, player count would drop due to frustration and burnout(Low numbers, not good for a launch).
- New player frustration: I've dabbled with some fresh characters in the Imperial Academy games. Have to say, they were refreshing and a blast. Level playing field of gear, no premade squads? I had a blast running just militia fits. Coming out of that however? Shocking. Literally, like walking outside into a rain storm. I really have to salute any new player that sticks around in the current MM system. But don't take my word for it, just check the forums. Posts from new players are everywhere saying the same thing.
Anyway. Little bit of a rage thread. Sure i'm missing something. But as someone who does not always want to squad up with corp mates(I'm a bit of an introvert like that), I really feel like solo players are getting the complete 'shaft'. Because it's not the premade squad's or corporations problem if solo players get stomped, but it's a hell of a way to push players away from the game. And I'm sure we'd all like to see DUST thrive, right? |
