Oh please, you know what, I give up, I'm wasting the paint on my keyboard, you win bro, nerf everything, make the tar fire clouds and rainbows.
Forums =/= Majority of the Playerbase.
Enough said, if it was, there would be alot more people like me, and this forum would be either a clusterfuck between you guys, and my guys, or a peaceful, respectful community that aren't elitist as hell.

Its just that rational thoughts and valid points dont go away, unfortunately neither do weak points. Thats why this merry go round is still spinning. |

it'd be a cluster**** between your CoD loving TAR abusers and the sane people who realize that the thing is broken as hell. |

Still appeals to the CoD crowd, where killing someone with more than 5 shots is unheard of. those are the people that this community doesn't want, and they are the ones fighting for and using the TAR. |

What's wrong with expanding the player base, why not bring CoD players in? Sure, they're mostly 14, but god, I've seen 12 year olds in Dust, it can't hurt that bad, more players, more interest in the game, more money for CCP, more updates for dust, and we'll all be happy.
Saying that players of one game, aren't wanted is just counter intuitive, think business. |

OP says everything is great and we shouldn't call for nerfs.
Then OP calls for a nerf on LAVs.
He talks about other people's attitude and then unilaterally declares what the proper use of a LAV is, as if any other use s somehow "wrong" in a way that violates the sanctity of the game. I'm not calling for a nerf, I'm just telling you to stop doing it, and admit it, you're just being deliberately obtuse, this is a total frustrating game killer. Because there's literally nothing you can do to stop it, they're going too fast for AV grenades, and by the time someones swapped over to Swarm Launchers/AA Classes, they've already gotten a good few skulls under their bonnet. See #3. It's called a Cavalry Charge, and it's a time honored tactic. You may not like it, but that's no reason to ban it. It's not like armies have never ridden down their foes before. Telling people not to use the cavalry charge is as elitist and pointless as telling everyone that the TAC AR is OP and nobody should use it. CCP loves it when people find new ways to use assets that they have placed in the game. If they don't want anyone killed by anything other than "approved" weapons, then they can do something about it. Meanwhile don't stand out in the open or play in the street. If you hear a LAV and don't see it in front of you check your scanner. If there isn't a blue diamond there, you have an enemy LAV behind you, so take cover. Don't stand there and look around, dive for cover. Situational awareness is all it takes. I'm completely well aware how to check radar, how to listen for LAV's the problem is they are too damned fast to do anything about, and if you dodge one, the next one will get you anyway. I'm not asking for it to be nerfed, I'm simply putting it out there, that it's bloody annoying.
Some people don't think to look both ways before they cross the street, so I had to put that out there for them.
I'd suggest that you are too far from cover if there is nothing you feel you can do once you hear a LAV. I need a good chunk of flat open ground to get up to a fast enough speed that leaves so little reaction time. I've had to give up and try for other targets when my enemy does a decent job of evasion.
And yes, I'll concede the point that it is annoying. Getting killed by any weapon, especially one you don't use yourself is pretty annoying. Being OB'ed is annoying too, but at least you can do something about being run down. |

You are right, more players would be better. Personally, I've said that I don't want Dust to become COD New Eden. What I mean by this, and why people are hesitent to have the "COD" guys here, is that many of us, myself included, do not want Dust to be CODified.
Now, if it were the case that these COD players would come to Dust with an open mind, than that would be great. I think many here fear though, that as the population of players used to COD increased, they would increasingly lobby for Dust to be more like COD.
I think this is the problem that many, including myself, are wary of.

There has to be a fine line between a hardcore MMOFPS and a casual CoD Like FPS, which is why I'm shouting and balling about the nerfs, if you make it too inaccessible, then noone but the current player base is going to play it. Do you see where I'm coming from? I like it the way it is now, switching over from Crysis, admittedly, it takes alot more skill than CoD, and I do have years and years of RPG experience under my belt, so I grasped the menus and skill trees etc pretty easily, sure some people think the weapons are OP, some people like me will say they are fine, but we need to remember, a game is only as strong as its player base.
I can see my suggestions alienating the Beta guys, I can see your suggestions alienating the less hardcore gamers, it's all about that meet-in-the-middle affair.
I hate CoD noobs as much as the next guy, and I've noticed an increase of useless, useless teammates, and underagers which severely fries my brain, but we need them, I hate to admit it, but we do.
And RE: Screaming the loudest, that was my main gripe here, I felt like the game was going one way, because the majority of the people who take the time to frequent the forums are Pro Hardcore, I wish the forums were set up, and moderated a little better, in a more coherent way, the Crysis forums are the same, it's thread after thread of the same issue, and I'm sure you guys get just as tired of it as I do! |

I think op makes some good points.
My problems with tar and lavs:
everyone feels they must have have the same weapon to compete (well, same suit and etc.), so it gets boring seeing the same thing on every player. Variety would be nice.
lavs... kinda like an annoying gnat flying around you. Perhaps it is fun, i don't know. |

And lets continue this thread, and consider the first point's about Nerfing weapons to be a general one, rather than specifically the TAR, see if we can get some good out of it. |

no, I hear and agree with the senseless cry of this is op, that is op... it gets old and would never stop if everyone had there way. Perhaps a distinct difference/advantage between weapons would help. Seems like an odd statement considering there is everything from knives to laser rifles, but the tar erases those difference I feel because of it's range and yes, power. For that reason, I to am becoming a lemming and saving up for the tar. I just feel when everyone suits up in 2 or 3 different fits so they can "feel" they are on an even playing field, why have all the other stuff? |
