trouble is we need those players to come and join the game on your first look with no info the game looks, plays and appears p2w
the other day i took a good ex BF3 player looking for a new fps and put him playing Dust without anything further than me saying its a great game
i game him a toon with 1.5mill sp set him off to play 5 games then to come out spend the skill points build a toon and try it again
after 5 games of getting stomped by proto's he set off to build his toon
first look at the market shows, he can use modules, weapons, dropsuits etc with much less skill points spent by paying some real money, he starts to build his toon and works out how little 1.5 mill sp is and how affective those Aur items are at saving you skill points and quits, off to find a new FPS game
An fps needs a fair fight, the bonus with Dust is that fair fight can come from gear and skill, a low skill player with great gear can be close enough to a good player with crap gear
the impact when you leave the academy is crazy, it goes from LAV everywhere to real games full of proto stompers
I have said it more than once, we need a skill progression system, just like mission running or ratting
you should earn better isk by being in better games, but you should earn isk not have it handed to you for turning up
I would like it to be based on system security of where you want to fight, so people who are low skilled can join easier games and people who can handle higher skills and higher geared players can play higher level games But this has to be player choice
A proto suit player can join a 1.0 security system fight and slaughter everyone in sight but as they are in crap gear they will make very very little isk, so its not worth running those games
a low sp and low geared player joining a high level game where they earn no war points as they cant compete earns nothing
Its important to add there should not be any restrictions based on SP or isk, let players decide what they want to do, if they can afford to run games and waste isk its their choice, if they want to
That means people can use Aur gear to get into higher level games without having to wait for the skill points, and it should mean we see very few good geared high skill players in with the low skill players - ok COD players will be there but they cant keep it up as they are losing isk |
