How would you guys (the CPM) feel about weekly townhalls that could be themed around ideas/feedback that you are seeking.
You could schedule a time and also a chat/room/channel name. Then you could record them for public knowledge.
You would operate them with minimal rules and format.
- Opening remarks by each member, maybe have a guest panel who also comment... - Make it understood that it would be smart to mute all except for CPM and panel members as everyone else could be a nuisance... - During a Q&A time there would be a designated person who picks questioners, they maybe even would have to have questions sent to them ahead of time, or the topics could be announced and the questions posted in this forum. - The question person XX's up in the chat channel, they get unmuted, they ask their question, then the panel responds. - This proceeds until time is up, or questions are done.
Hopefully you would keep the topic limited and have relevant people weighing in on issues. You'd obviously try and work with different time-zones, and then publish the discussions onto youtube or something.
I think this could go a long way to create a connection to different voices in the community and get a little more sense of community involvement. Ideally the output would only be as specific and action oriented as your chosen topic and the audience weighing in. Quick questions could be posed to the community and CPM members could be able to take quick polls with yea/nay votes for immediate feedback.
Example topics:
-What tools for corp management are lacking and how would your prioritize the development of new tools? -Do you think the game is catering to an appropriate spectrum of play styles (casual vs. intense vs. technical vs. creative)? -Balancing FPS and MMO: What are the expectations? What opens the sandbox? What helps the experience? -What is upcoming and how has CCP prioritized new content? |

The problem with these sort of things, that go outside of the normal minutes from the CPM/CCP meetings, is that they tend to just boil down to "Did you talk to CCP yet?" "No, we don't have a meeting until (insert date here)"
Making a thread and asking for their stance on certain things such as "Is the AWOXing solution an appropriate response? I disagree because (insert constructive argument here)" allows for the CPM to read what the community is saying, while also being able to give you a well thought out response.
There's no real need for a DUST 514 community-wide town hall as it accomplishes little overall. |

Please don't forget that the CPM already is a completely voluntary thing and those people are already spending a lot of their spare time in order to communitcate the community's concerns to CCP and vise versa. CSM has proven that this is a lot more than some of those people can afford to invest. Therefore in respect to their time commitment for being the representatives of the communty - NO.
Besides that it is like Abu Stij says: This would accomplish little; because people want to have answers on any little problem they might have but the CPM is also under NDA and therefore wouldn't be able to give any answers besides "We can't talk about that." or "Please wait for upcoming devblogs/news/forum posts." And when the crowd doesn't hear want they want to things can get nasty pretty quickly. I see your point but this idea isn't leading us anywhere. |

Can you please refer to where this was said or have another CPM member/CCP Community Manager confirm this?
Edit - nevermind it is in the Dev Blog found here:

Right now some members are having personal time stuff and we're internally debating some topics now that 'majority' of uprising is dealt with or in capable hands. |
