It was probably a tank. As a dropship pilot, they need that range to hit us at all. My advice is to drop your ship behind cover, never out in the open and if someone calls "TANK" you need to increase your wariness exponentially when calling it in. |

Hah; I keep tanks in the redline with my assault ship. If a tank ventures ANYWHERE out of the red when I am flying, they are dead, no matter if you are shield or armor tank. If you try to hop out and recall, you're dead. If you stand and try to fight, you're dead. If you run, you're dead. I am the reason that you keep your tank in the red. Sure, I won't be attacking many other ground targets when your tank is out, but I am sure as hell going to be able to keep your tank's effectiveness suppressed as well. |

Hahaha; you must not have ever used an Assault Dropship. Thing can hit the flight ceiling in under 2 1/2 seconds. It is one speedy, well-tanked, BAMF. If you are out of your redline, I can just teabag you to death (hover over you and out of your turret vertical range). The ONLY way a tank even has a chance of taking me out is by surprise, and even then, my awareness and speed can get me out before a second hit arrives and my tankiness makes it where a tank needs to hit me 3-4 times to down me by himself.
Good luck. ;)
I do concede that the slower, lower end dropships do make fun tank cannon fodder. |

I got one blown up in our red zone at the very start of the match as well, and I'm very careful about where I call one of these things down.
I am a dropship, and losing one as I call one into the redzone sucks, but I don't fault the tank driver. He had a great level of combat awareness and took out a potential threat. Any one of us would have done the same. Why let something that WILL faceroll you live to see the light of day? |

Good luck. ;) I do concede that the slower, lower end dropships do make fun tank cannon fodder. after the whole turret aiming screw up i learned to use hills to be able to aim up and now that they fixed that issue if i can find a hill the only place safe from my tank is directly behind me even hovering directly above me exposes dropships to my 80gj scattered ion cannon or missile turrets whichever i feel like using
That is why I approach the tank from its back. If I approach and hover over its front, I am exposed to the shot, but if I come from the back, he/she will HAVE to spend time turning and readjusting himself, which gives me more hits, and makes your tank more dead. The only place where the tank's back is safe when doing the hill ramp up shot is in his redzone. A tank trying that in the open will get the swoop from the behind, pew pew pew, dead tank syndrome.

And on flat ground, you can't get the hill elevation to make the shot, and lets just say the top missile turret on the tank will be lucky to hit me while you are moving your tank and turret around and even if it does, the damage output will be minimal compared to the hell raining down from above. The most tanks I have blown up with my Assault Dropship in one match was 7, partially due to the guy being hella persistent... and his buddies.... and the orbital that I dropped on the other lol. Fun times. |
