A Proto-bear is a character who stays in proto gear and never ventures into unsecured armors such as standard or militia in fear of getting merced. The Protobear often has rage fits which is evident of its constant QQ threads. If provoked the protobear will immediately challenge you to a corp battle. This behavior is believed to have originated from their handheld video game roots. Such as Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Digimon. They will often challenge any offender to a duel or battle. Protobears are often found roaming in packs.

Protobears personality is reminiscent of a 14 year old with self esteem issues and an internet based upbringing, or some 40 year old virgin who dry humps his controller and system for 23 hours a day. They will often forget that Dust 514 is a videogame, and when they brag about their skill (the ability to aim a cross hair on a target while strafing/jumping) it does not mean much to the casual gamer/civilian. The Protobear finds refuge in KD/R, Leaderboard Ranking, and similar stats, it provides comfort and growth to their e-peen.

Protobears are people who wants devs to develop/change games to make their gaming experience easy, safe, and cozy. No risk, no challenge, no realism. Cozy like their eve counterparts the carebear. They often will rage and QQ till their demands are met. Developers and gamers alike do well by letting the protobear weather its tantrum alone.
