I'm going to pretend someone from above actually listening. I've seen people doing this in church.
Let me start with saying: It's actually a fantastic game. It's cool, it's complicated, it's freaking free.
Second: It's fubared like no other game I saw. I'm not even talking about weapon balance and imbeciles running around the map aimlessly. I'm talking about really ridiculous stuff I don't understand it even happening here in final release after years in development.
Third: I'm absolutely convinced you, guys, are doing everything you can to deliver best possible experience to players (and get some milk money, of course). So I'm not here just to be an ass, I'm here to give feedback and hope you will reflect on it. So here goes:
1. People getting stuck on everything. Seriously? Not sure what's the reason for it, but I'm going to assume, you have like laziest level designers in the world. Here, I've got a picture of them creating new maps for us: http://www.steadyhealth.com/130736/Image/kids_drawing.jpg Mates, you don't need to create new maps, just fix the existing ones. Quake tournaments played on like 1.5 maps for 15 years, I'm pretty sure you've got the quantity covered already.
2. Why did you bothered to include the KB/M if you're not going to let us use it anyway? After playing years of different FPS, I was very excited with Dust supporting mouse and s***. I even got my PS3 out of the box to play this game. But last week, I've spent more time tinkering with controls, sensitivity and Logitech's SetPoint, than actually playing the game. And you know what? I'd more likely eat my dingleberries for the next month, than play Dust competitively for another week. But since Dust is a lovely game with a lot of promise and I don't want to stay behind, I take every battle very seriously and guard the MCC's drop bay to make sure noone enters from outside.
The idea you have behind balancing classes DOESN'T WORK with mouse and keyboard on a table. Soooo many games pulled this off. Crippling KB/M controls to eliminate the advantage before DS3 is the stupidest idea ever. Like borderline idiotic. EVE is a competitive universe and it should be up to players to select their weapon of choice. I always laugh when hear DS3 users complain. It's like watching my mom complaing about burnt dinner, while she was watching TV and not doing s*** in the kitchen. Cmon, mom, put your s*** together and make me proper dinner.
You have two options, I think: a) Give KB/M freedom it deserves and was made for. For example, you can be much faster in racing games with steering wheel controllers, I don't hear people complaining about GT5 supporting them. Gamepads are great for mario and nhl2013, NOT for FPS. b) Remove KB/M support completely. People like me will probably leave, but who cares? Plenty of people will stay and play casually. MAKE YOUR MIND CCP!
3. On-boarding and matchmaking experience is terrible I can see many reasons for you not resetting the SP after launch, you greedy grinch. But new people are choosing not to continue playing, because they are getting raped by someone with 20mil SP every 25 seconds or so. I've gotten out of the Academy after playing just 2 evenings in a row (I'm not a bad player, topping the leaderboards quite often). Since then, I often join games with two very strong squads from top corps playing in one team and bunch of random losers in the other. That's when I usually decide to guard the CCM and do some work. If I wouldn't be an EvE player, I would left the game like tomorrow.
4. Imbalance due to Beta characters Again, I can see many many reasons behind current position, this may be solved with better matchmaking, and I'm sure it will be at some point. But according to my calculations, I'm gonna need at least 6 months before I can actually hope to kill veterans. Or 3 months with $200 and a lot of time investment. Okay, at this point I'm just going to ask: seriously? I'm sure you don't want beta players to leave, but new people will NEVER catch up with them. Couldn't you like issue some blueprints to beta testers? Just to avoid new people feeling useless for the next 6 months? Oh, you don't need new players? Oh, screw those newbs! Gotcha!
5. WTF with vehicles killing people instantly? I mean, yeah it works like that in real life, but man, I've got shields and stuff. I can survive a freaking shot to my head. Why am I getting killed by a buggy? It's not Carmageddon, man.
6. Why is everything so expensive? I get it, you need money, and PSN got some expensive stuff and TBH, I'm a working man, I can afford it. But man, I'm not gonna spend $100 there. I'm not even going to spend 10 bucks, I'd rather eat them. Because it's just too much for nothing. But I so would buy tons of stuff for 3 bucks/piece. Read 'How We Decide' someday.
7. Who thought of making black dropsuits and green scopes? Or TAR's scope muddy green? What is it made of Sprite bottle? That's the future I'm hoping for: immortality and weapon scopes made of sprite bottles. Color diversity is great, but you gonna have to either make all of suits bright, or let us custom color them. Did you try to shoot someone in proto suit standing in the shadow through the scope of TAR?
8. Can you put sofas in the drop zone of MCC? I just want to sit down for a year or so and wait till you fix all that.
Now seriously, CCP you're doing fantastic job, and I love the premise. I appreciate you thinking big and creating the whole new experience with linking EvE and Dust, it's incredible to think of. But before you go big, you really need to go small and just create a good product ordinary people gonna love and play. The game is complicated and interesting, but it's no fun at this point. I know some people will disagree, but most people here are held by EvE, not by Dust.
Thank you.

Vaux Karn wrote:1. Getting stuck on stuff is irritating but it is not caused by level design, that would be a problem within the engine itself. More maps is good, variety is always good in games. More maps are is good, but I'd rather see them fixing existing issues, than add more irritating maps.
Vaux Karn wrote:2. No, just no. Heavy suits move slower, turning around is moving. If you disagree with that logic, try turning around 360-¦ without moving your feet. Mate, I don't disagree with logic, you should've read my post more carefully. I've said GÇö the intended mechanics is brilliant. It's working perfectly well in EvE GÇö you can't kill Frigate with Battlecruiser (in usual fit, of course). The thing is, i can override ANY limitation from CCP and they can do NOTHING about it. There are mice with onboard memory, I can put whatever sensitivity I want. I can even put separate sensitivity for X an Y axis, mate. It's just a matter of time before I get my settings close to RAW input. Competitive players have tenacity to move them forward. I just don't see any reason to do that, people just want to enjoy the game. Why should CCP even include KB/M? To make people join and get frustrated? They should either remove KB/M completely, which BTW is a valid solution, It makes absolute sense, to make the whole system work. Or, they need to remove the hepmorroidal pain and frustration for people expecting normal KB/M controls. That's it.
Vaux Karn wrote:3. The Academy solves this for new players. Once you advance far enough, the training wheels come off. There is no easy mode, so use the Academy as a learning experience. In case you haven't read my post carefully, I've graduated from Academy in 2 evenings with 650 000 SP. How much do you have? How much do you think I would last in combat against you one on one?
Vaux Karn wrote:4. Again, no. There was a reset shortly before the game went to open beta. When it did go to open beta, it was free (just like now) and we had daily skill point caps for about a month (which were much more limiting) before we got weekly caps (just like now) forthe remaining 2 months. Anyone could have been playing during the past 3 months. This is no different than people playing for the first time 6 months from now. The only reason most betas reset at release is because you have to buy the game. It seems like you're not listening and just telling me what happened. I'm submitting an actual problem GÇö end game might be unreachable for players. Since veterans will always be ahead, good players stuck with low SP chars forever. FOREVER, dude. Would you take good player with strong versatile char, or would you take a good player with 2mil SP to the PC? Since playing this game in a current state is moderate fun with solid pain, I don't see people saying.
5. If something 5 times your size hits you at high speed, you go crunch. The shield and armor arguement is irrelevant when said larger object has higher shields and armor. To combat the LAVs, try AV grenades, proximity remote explosives, or just specializing in AV altogether. An AV specialist always has targets in this game, and is useful on any team. Okay, you're not listening again. People abusing game mechanics with LAVs. It might not be happening later, but now it's just a carmageddon fest for imbeciles. I don't have a problem with killing them, actually.
6. It is a free game, that stuff is optional. New maps, game modes, equipment types, weapon types, and so on are also free. If you are too cheap, too bad. At least it isn't like CoD, $100 every year to get the new game and all the map packs. Mate, that's the one thing mature person should put on a table. I'm gonna go see how much money left in my piggybank.
7. I have no problem seeing a black dropsuit in a shadow and I have my brightness set to minimum. So maybe tweak your tv settings or the in game settings. Sorry, dude, I'm probably too old for this game. My plasma TV is too old for this game. :-( You're a rockstar.
8. If you are only AFKing anyway, you are hurting yourself in the long run. Two fold if CCP decides to do something that they have actually discussed as an option and retroactively remove all SP gained by AFKing. I'm looking forward to it, dude. Wonder how many veterans will get their SP down.
Vaux Karn wrote:So...in conclusion, I concede to half of one of your points. Terrain hang ups suck. As far as everything else goes, I have presented valid points to against your complaints and/or offered advice on how to adapt to the problem. Hopefully you can open mindedly consider my feedback to your post. If not, no skin off my back. Well, you see, you've actually conceded nothing, you're just used to some things in the game and console gaming and have no regards to see other side of the medal. Your points are like 'No. Ketchup is better. Just because I like it better.' My points are about what's going on and what's more likely to happen later considering current approach. I exaggerated and might even speculated on a few things, but that's just a part of my job description, part of the process.
I like this game and i hope it'll be greatest game someday. |

LEECH! Get the f**k up and make your own damn dinner or starve. Maybe you should stop spending your pennies on a game and spare your mother of the agony of sheltering your sorry ass.
Oh, we were invited for dinner. We don't live together for quite a while.
It was actually funny to hear her saying this first thing as we came into the door: 'I've fallen asleep and eggs got burned, guys. Don't mind the smell, stupid dinner has messed up my kitchen'. The smell was sooooo awful, I saw my wife (who had bad morning sickness that day) almost vomiting again. |

Mary Sedillo wrote:No on the KB/M "freedom". It would put you guys at a HUGE advantage over those who use the controller to play this game. How could we compete with near-instant turns and super-accurate fire? Just no.
We already live in a world where a mouse user with a duvolle can super-click his rifle to absurd damage output levels.
Mate, modern gaming mice support all kind of different settings. I don't need to click the trigger to shoot fast with TAR, I can make MACRO. So Including KB/M is HUGE advantage already. Believe me, as soon as they fix the issues with random acceleration, you'll get pwnd again by people with KB/M. I am 100% sure, two players of equal skill, SP and fit, but one using KB/M and other using DS3 GÇö KB/M player will win most of the time. |

The only fix that would be nice is that our shots would more easily hit the driver....then I would enjoy jumping out fo the way and shooting the drive. As of right now, it is just boring having to jump and dodge the drivers till they get bored or I find a spot they cannot follow me into.
Ohm that's fantastic! If the driver could be killed, that would be awesome! Totally awesome job for snipers. :-) |

NovaShadowStorm wrote:1.Back in beta there was only getting stuck on hills when you jumped into an area where you didn't land properly these new invisible wall glitches are something to do with the engine or something they've tried to make better but haven't. I know I've found 2 in the warbarge before battle alone that, needless to say were never there before.
It's not about how much better it became. I'm not here to compare, and new players have nothing to compare it to, except other games, like CoD, Borderlands or Halo. So I don't understand what it still doning in final app. My point is, fix it before release. Not sure where this is coming from and how complicated it is to fix, but I'm considering this a school-boy's error. Pretty sure, everyone will.
NovaShadowStorm wrote:2. KB/M Frankly I don't use it I've always been a DS3 user through and through. However I have met players who use KB/M and absolutely annihilate it's all about getting the feeling thats right for you. It will take time you will get angry and you will be killed as you go through trial and error just like we all did getting used to our controls. *Remembers back to when he first started playing* 2/15 ... good times... good times...
That's exactly my point, I've spent a week tinkering with stuff. Competitive players will find a way. I've found best possible settings myself, but man it's still jerky as hell. WTF? Do you really want to tinker with a car for a week after you've bought it? Normal experience: start the game, learn the ropes, enjoy the game. In DUST: start the game, f*** your brains out with unnecessary **** and frustration, get killed, f*** your brains out with unnecessary **** and frustration, get killed, f*** your brains out with unnecessary **** and frustration, finally find something decent. Why do I have to do this? I just want to have fun and I like the premise of the game.
NovaShadowStorm wrote:4. You'd be surprised how wrong you are. The other night just because I was bored I decided to make a new char, using a full militia fit with absolutely no SP invested at all I was tossed into a battle. Since I'm not new I didn't get to go to the academy and went right to normal battles where I met veterans in combat some of which I knew and wore/used proto suits and weapons. I killed several and only died a minimal amount of times. Gear isn't everything once you have the skill you can beat them. That said there are some corps out there that are just absurdly strong made of power players who have skill and gear, those you won't be able to kill for a while hell even I can't kill some of them.
Actually, I'm not. I'm not saying you can't pwn everyone, who's stronger than you are. I'm saying your chances are a lot weaker. And, you will always be behind and there's a good chance, you will never reach the end-game, cause veteran player will always have versatile chars.
NovaShadowStorm wrote:5. Vehicles always kill you if they hit you. It's big, it's moving fast, it's heavy, shields will not save you.
Sure, shields save me from bullets, not from cars.
NovaShadowStorm wrote:7. Thats just a whine plain and simple I can't put that any way nicely. The colouring of suits and weapons haven't changed all that much from beta. They have tossed in new suits with white to make them stand out but the black protos have always been around as well as the green guns. Hasn't stopped me from killing people.
That's not a whine, it's pointing out something stupid. I mean, cmon, WHY? |

Orion Vahid wrote:It seems you kids have learned something wrong. Mouse Gëá Aimbot You guys have an aim assistance option in case you didn't know :D If you really think KB/M makes you win, you're very wrong. Don't belive me? try it yourself. If you suck you will still suck no matter what you use (unless you actually never played with a KB/M or DS3) What are you talking about exactly? :-) I think you're not getting the point, are you? It's not about winning or who's got the better tool, it's about what tool you CHOSE to play. Many have chosen the DS3, but many have selected KB/M as it's a supported option. CCP suggested: we're gonna equalize mouse and DS3 by crippling it to fit our game mechanics. But it'll never happen as soon as CCP eliminates lag and acceleration. Players will find a way to override ANYTHING CCP throws at them. It'll just be pain and frustration at first, but in the end it will work. So why mess up first-time experience for new players who just happen to play ONLY with KB/M and have NEVER experienced keypad? Why even bring this option to the table if it's not working for players? |
