Is there ant real incentive for doing the whole sha-bang and getting a gallente suit vs. getting the frame. Besides the reduction to PG/CPU? I am pressed for skill points, i just got the re-respec and I'm wondering if its worth the extra few million skill points. Thanks

They cost less per suit, I believe. That was enough incentive for me. |

You could save a lot of space for better modules with that bonus, and I'd personally consider Gallente the suit for real AR pros, not just shield tankers. |

The 25% increase to shield recharge rate would be nice, but is it worth the millions of SP required....Not unless you have 15mill SP And are specializing in solely the assault role.
The one Race I would even consider skilling into the Assault Role is Ammar. The 25% reduction to laser Weaponry heat build up in conjunction with the 25% shield recharge rate is almost worth it if you're using SR's.....Although I wouldn't even start skilling it until I had 8-10 mill SP. |

Get a Fitting Tool (somewhere on this forum), set it to All 5 and fit one Basic Proto, and one Specialized Proto. See how much Complex + Proto stuff you can fit in comparison.
That's when it starts to count.
For me, it's the extra juice I can squeeze out, plus the price reduction of the suit. And it looks super awesome. |

Yeah at that amount of SP I'd just go basic.
Keep in mind though proto suits are not the be all, king of battlefield suits that new players make them out to be. If you can't fill it out with complex module's and the core skills to support it you're no better of than a basic fit. But with your SP that shouldn't be an issue so long as you focus SP to your role/playstyle and don't waste SP on things you aren't absolutely sure you'll use. |

Why? I thought the difference was whether you wanted to armour or shield tank? Can you explain your thoughts further? |

Selinate deux wrote:They cost less per suit, I believe. That was enough incentive for me. This would be the only reason the specialize, not only for Assault, but for ANY infantry role. The slot layout is mostly the same, but the cost of a specialized suit is less expensive (the only suit that doesn't have similar slots is the Amarr Heavy Frame Proto vs. Amarr Sentinel Proto).
The passives are nice too, but even I have to agree the passives are worthless depending on the racial Assault dropsuit. For example, the Assault bonus is a great passive to have for Caldari, since shields... Minmatar have high shields on Assault if I recall correctly and Amarr, while being armor tankers, still have a balanced based health pool of shields and armor.
However, the passive is completely worthless to the Gallente. If you are planning Gallente Assault, unless there is something that I overlooked (and disregarding the cheap ISK cost), it is NOT worth putting the SP into getting Gallente Assault, even for the bonuses. Just my 2 ISK though. |

that doesn't help us now though. As unless CCP is altering them w/in days, we will be stuck w/ a choice for weeks. Of course if they change something pos or neg; people will want another resepc saying what they have now isn't what is might be.
Ex: Caldari logi racial bonus goes from 5% ->2% . Will people want out as the suit doesn't "do" what it originally did.
Plus whenever they add all the other guns & weapon; you know people we require a respec as so much will be added, it changed the entire game |

to be fair I haven't asked for a respec.
But if they change the caldari logi into only using Secondary weapons, then I need to reevaluate whether that role is what is needed. |

That fitting reduction is a major bonus for anyone who uses prototype weapons. Combine it with the relevant skills for the respective weapon, and you're turning a Duvolle Tac into a GEK as far as CPU & PG goes. |

The Gallente suit offers far more variety. The vast majority of Caldari players just want to run & gun with impunity, and only throw some damage mods into the mix so they can choose tank or gank. A Gallente assault is unique in its ability to do both, or to make a glass cannon via some mobility upgrades, or even profile dampen for a real black ops fitting.
The ability to vary your fittings for the right scenario, and to be able to implement each effectively, is where this game surpasses any competition, because it gives the intelligent and strategic players the chance to compete alongside the crackshot grunts. |
