Seriously people, it's coming, we all know it is. The most likely will be release around the time of the Vita app, since the app will require CREST access in order to function in the first place. Once that happens, I give it less than a month before the functionality is added to EveHQ, Aura, and some standalone apps crop up as well. |

Where are you finding the information that there is to be a change from the current api system to a C-REST architecture? Fanfest 2011 or 2012, plus devblogs on the topic over the years. CREST is replacing the current system, not complimenting it. Not to mention that, from a development perspective, it's stupid to maintain both, since CREST does all that the old does, and more. They did the same with the legacy API system to the current one; they stopped building on the old, built the new, and after a few months grace period to let app makers update to the new system, completely disabled the old. |

Ok, so they are replacing it, I don't care which system I get to use I just want to use it! So you think that I should shut up about things I want to see in game? Take a number if you aren't going to be constructive, there are plenty of people trolling, don't do it in a place that is meant to help DEVs see things that could be helpful to their design process. If they want to use CREST to do API calls I am all for it. I just want to see some ability for 3rd party app developers to start developing, being negative about the process slows it down, it doesn't benefit the process to continue to blast us with **** about leagacy this legacy that, don't waste my time and I will attempt to not waste yours. Constructive is exactly what i want, which these threads are not, since they don't add anything that isn't already coming.
As to developing apps or getting a head start on it, that can (and is) already done. It's fairly trivial to leave placeholders into the code to insert the API calls to request the information being input manually now. 99% of the work can already be done, the only thing remaining being the read/write operations themselves, for which we'll have the info and access we need in a couple months. |

Draco Cerberus wrote:Please, find me a situation in which a request is made and then you've provided me with constructive feed back rather than just saying it's being done already. I don't have the API code in my hand nor is it in game yet so for me to say please give it to is quite constructive as it demonstrates a desire to work with the API rather than ignoring the fact that we do not have it. I'm going to bring my constructive feedback to the battlefield in the name of 3rd party developers everywhere sir, with plenty of bullets with your name on them. Commenting from ignorance doesn't magicly make beating a horse that's already in the stable constructive. It's coming, we know what it will have, and we can pre-stage our apps accordingly. These threads are as useful as responding to "patch X on monday" with "we want [the stuff in patch X] today."
And you are not speaking on behalf of any competent deceloper, becauses they've had their **** pre-staged for a couple years now, just waiting on the API code to plug in. |

You CAN unlike a post, you can't DISLIKE a post, because all that does is get used to dislike the POSTER, not the POST. Bad enough the like button is abused the same way, but ther's not much to be done about that, and it's not usually as big an issue (people DO go on vindictive dislike sprees; not so much wirh the astroturphing-via-likes). |
