But are Caldari buddies with the Amarr? Or Gallente with the Minmatarr? |

Since the modular shooting, Minmatar and Gallente are currently allies. Caldari pretty much go where there's money. |

Yes to all of the above (in summary  )
Minnies are escaped slaves (from Amarr overlords).
Gallente are ex allies/protectorate of the Caldari who rebelled in a rather ugly war.
Amarr and Caldari are loosely allied, likewise with Minnie and Gallente. |
