Every ney created character picks one weapon and one play style to go with that weapon.
A new player who wants to play assault would start with a stock of std assault rifles and std assault suits with the skills necessary to use them. A new player who wants to tank would get access to the std tank, modules, and turrets of their choice with a stock of each.
A lot of new players find the skill system confusing and just want to play without getting OHK by everyone, so giving people basic gear, they would last longer and rage quit less. |

Not having them to face the intricacies of the skillsystem early on only protracts the issue i'm afraid. We simply need the revised matchmaking system and much much better NPE in place. |

We need to just bring back starter classes but make them optional if you already have one character already made. Also, the starter classes should be more specific based on racial gear/weapons/vehicles and add a pilot starting role. |

This could be tied in with some kind of tutorial. You get to test some militia gear on a training are, then get to choose what you like and get the chance to buy/get a little stock plus a set of recommended skills. I'd like to stress that new players need to learn that suits are fitted and skills are specced as early and fluid as possible. Shielding them from this aspect could cause frustration after the first hours. |

Judging by the lack of heavies, tankers, snipers, scouts or anything that isn't an AR assault in the Academy this needs to happen. |

CCP has lately started to put considerable effort into teaching new capsuleers, so i hope that they have something in the works on that.

It existed and they got rid of it because they're stupid descriptions didn't really tell people what they were getting into. It's better if that SP is not predetermined and left at free will of the user, because how is a new player supposed to know what they want to do when they haven't even played yet?
Let alone half the community doesn't know what they want to play as: Tankers are asking for respec, heavies are asking for respec, dropship pilots asking for respec, etc. |

People don't stick with a niche role worrying about it being balanced, they worry about if it's fun or not. Balancing of a game mechanic should be in the hands of the developer. That's why we're still on this ****ing nerf witch hunt after 8 months because even CCP isn't sure what they want this game to be right now, even after full release. I'd rather have a newbie see what's available and if they love it, they'll stick with it hell or high water instead of following the FotM like everyone else is doing right now. If they think CCP is going to keep handing out these respecs like candy, they're in for a rude awakening. |
