jin foxdale wrote:I know Xbox One (stupid name btw, its the third one.) has Blu-ray, but how does that work? If I'm being ignorant then please, forgive me and be gentle, but don't Sony have a lot of uh, holding, or stock, or rights or whatever with Blu-ray? wasn't that the problem with the 360 - that they wanted to put an add-on Blu-ray on it but couldn't because Sony wanted a shed load of cash to allow it? Again, sorry if I'm wrong, the conversation was a loooong time ago with an Xbox fanboy. (you reading this heartbreak? ha!)
Watch the windows 8 video and most have Sony products. |

Ok, So I own a Wii (not a Wii U, we'll get on to that later), PS3 and a 360. I'm a believer in not playing "console warz" because it's dumb, and limits your pool of entertainment. I buy my consoles on, or as close to as possible, their release day.
Currently sat under my TV are the following:
Dreamcast PS1 PS2 (chipped for international releases) PS3 Xbox Xbox 360 Wii
In the time I've had this current set up, These are the consoles I've used:
Dreamcast PS2 (mainly to play PS1 games) PS3 Xbox (purely for Steel battalion and JSRF (which runs badly emulated on 360)) Xbox 360
But, let's add one more factor in: let's say I never played Dust...
Dreamcast PS2 (mainly to play PS1 games) Xbox (purely for Steel battalion and JSRF (which runs badly emulated on 360)) Xbox 360
I'm sorry to say it, and I say it as a playstation owner (and saturn for that matter) from before they even hit the UK (I had a japanese import of both) But the PS3 is a failure in my eyes. Before Dust came out, mine was mostly used for watching BBC iPlayer stuff.
Saying things like the Xbox will be worse/will fail/etc is dumb. It's stupid Sony fanboyism, just as saying the opposite. The game content for each console will be near enough identical, the only differences will be the ever decreasing pool of exclusives.
Currently, the Xbox one has far more features than the PS4, and could be what swings people who only buy one console's decisions. Saying Microsoft has to pay Sony for each Bluray drive is really silly too... The Dreamcast ran on Windows CE, and I'm betting there's a fair bit of Microsoft programme engineering going into the PS4 considering they want it to be closer to a PC. Besides, I'm sure Microsoft doesn't mind the cash they get from Sony pre-installing the latest copy of Windows on every Vaio...
tl;dr: don't console fanboy. It's really silly, and multi-platform owners like me just shake our heads in despair of the myopic opinions.
And for those who held on for the comment about the Wii U, My Wii has sat rotting for almost 3 years. Nintendo have lost the plot and are too focused on gimmick gaming. |
