I noticed one of the dropsuit modules improves scan accuracy by % intervals. Can someone explain what this actual does? I understand increasing scan range, and decreasing scan profile, but I don't understand the accuracy part.
Thanks! |

Probably it's the scan precision you are talking about.
As about "how" scan precision (of your suit) works against scan profile (of enemy suit), there is no information available, just speculation. |

Yeah sorry, precision, not accuracy.
So it's an unknown... Thanks for the info, appreciate it. |

For some speculation on scan precision, check this dust 514 scanner page. |

And for all other Dust related stuff. It's a great wiki you have going there. |

What are you guys talking about, "just speculation"? It sounds pretty clear and CCP even confirmed it later on. It lowers you scan dB level by the percentage. When an enemy passed through your scan radius, if their dB level is higher than yours, they are scanned. Simple as that.
So lets say for example we have two light frames (since they are the only ones who I remember their dB levels). They have a profile signature of 45 dB and a scan accuracy of 45 dB. If one scout passes through the the other scouts scan radius, nothing happens since 45 is not lower than 45. However, if one light frames equips a precision enhancer that increases scan precision by 10%, then he's scan accuracy is now 45 * 0.9 = 40.5 dB. Now if the two light frames pass again one will be detected since 40.5 < 45. It's that simple.
That said, scan precision means nothing if you aren't considerably upgrading your scan radius first, which is only 10 meters to start. |

Got a link for DEV confirming that?
Nothing is ever that simple with CCP. And i've definitely seen scouts on my radar with an assault suit.
This probably works like jamming in EvE. There is a ship's signal strength, and the module's jamming strength. The chance of jamming (or in Dust the chance of you not showing on enemy scan), is based on those values, but there is never a 100% guarantee. It's chance based.
And then there is the scanning mechanic, which uses ship's signature vs the precision of the scanning probe. Again, it's chance based, not 100%.
Please provide any kind of link/confirmation that this is as simple as one number being higher than another.

I don't have a link but it was in the same post where the dev was saying your profile signature is static and doesn't matter if you are crouched, standing, sprinting, or even firing a weapon. I'll try to find it, but it really is that simple.
The only thing unclear is how many degrees in front of you your scan radius is, because it doesn't appear to be a full 360. |

There is also the point that if you have LOS, they show up on TacNet regardless of the scan radius. |
