honestly, i think if they are sitting in the back, sniping with a free suit in redline, they should REALLY be forced to move atleast 10m from time to time... as for the damage... you're truly joking i hope, since you're getting hit with a slug , going at speeds well over mach 10.... think about it for a moment. it is going to hurt, no amount of % making will stop that.
the BS itself is the red line wimps, i've met good scout snipers that get to a good perch where they know is risky, and give out intel even as he's taking shots at people.... the sniper's job is to get into tough spots and take a few shots, pass on intel, then move on. sadly most dont realize that, so they sit... in one place... all the time... |

Redlining snipers are fine.
if you are one of them, kindly dont say that? those that sit back in redlin give NOTHING to the team, no recon, not intel, not even the slightest bit of actual defence for most capture points.
Vallud put it the BEST way possible, that's for damned sure |

Vallud put it the BEST way possible, that's for damned sure A competent sniper creates a killzone in his whole field of view and forces the enemy to change position, often sacrifing front cover, to not get picked up one by one. I saw countless times groups of enemies suddenly split up or running straight into the open because some sniper that even i weren't aware of compromized their cover. And don't underestimate the relief a good countersniper can provide.
exactly, snipers that actually work in such a way are amazing, as well as snipers up high and scanning the field for enemies trying to sneak around the blindspots of the infantrymen running along the objectives. good sniper overwatch is not common, and i only know of one person in my Corp that is actually an Overwatch sniper.....*gets idea for new type of suit* |

END RED LINE SNIPING Have you read some of the replies to your OP? Have you read the responses to Rachoi's added argument? If yes, why are you ignoring both?
snipers back in redline rarely have good enough ov a veiw for what i and others have said i'm afraid >...> |

it is a bit Malkai, because when i look around for those i can help on my team, i... look back and see a pile of snipers.... there have been a couple times where i was flying around my dropship, and yet i flew closer to my team's red line.. and i saw 10 snipers, i **** you not.
and those good snipers are hard not to notice, epecsially when they take your head off at an excess of 300m, when those redline snipers have been bouncing slugs off your rear and only making it feel like a pinch |

I rather took issue with his first paragraph. There's a number of classes and playstyles i wouldn't expect to capture points on a regular basis and his remark seems dismissive of the concept of varying roles working toward a common goal.
agreed, i know snipers that might not be grabbing points, but will tag a tank so we dont get blindsided, need to keep the idea that snipers have value, when they act as Overwatch, and Recon |

Am I the only person who plays an Assault Suit, covered in dampners equiped why my good old Covenant Sniper Rifle, and am right on the front, right next to the heavies and TacRS?
I've finished top plenty of times by playing this way, poking my gun over the top of steps, tucking into tight corners, looking for the weak and wounded or the logistics suits. I prefer to get stuck in right on the front line even with a sniper. It's like people don't know how to respond when they bump into a marksman so close to them.
It's good fun. And in my opinion I do more for my team than any guy on a hill creating an artificial killbox, or spotting the occasional tank. And god don't get me started about redliners
i have never run into you on the feild then, i make it hard to see with shells falling everywhere. but i digress, most that do come that close to me with a sniper rifle are not long lived, because they try the old COD ideal of quickscope firing, and usually mis me by a fair bit.
snipers are rather rare at anything less than 100m, and when they are they seem to be using only militia starter peices. as for the damners, i didnt know they were that effective close in. |

Snipers get a lot of hate but you should not paint all of them with the same brush.
There are redline positions that allow you to watch the often overlooked and unguarded back objectives. This isn't the same as dropping from the MCC and hiding behind a rock. Sometimes you can keep one or two man units from taking the objective while whacking defenders at the enemy objective at the other end. If the object is overrun the sniper can take it back once the invaders wander off (often unopposed since nobody comes back).
Snipers can also run out at the start of combat and grab the CRU ... or drop an appropriately laced uplink. Most people will never notice these actions... they'll just assume the sniper has been doing nothing.
Blah blah blah. I'm sick of sniper hate and whining. People can suck bad at whatever role they are playing on the field... it's just the frustration of being taken out by a sniper that causes all the QQing. It's a shooter... get used to it.
snipers that contribute i nsome way, be it Recon, Overwatch, point defence and denial, or even those stealth buddies that drop the links and retake things i rather like, and are RARE to find Crash-o
a majority of snipers i ever see are either sitting in places and jsut trying to hide behind a rock, sad to say.
if you are an actual Overwatch or PDF sniper, i congradulate you... i would only ask you don't sit in red line... that way you dont get hit with the paint splatter :) |
