Role WP for role functions
Heavies
1. Sentinel Stay (x)m radius within an objective and achieve Y WP bonus
2. Suppression (x)s of continous fire within y(m) range of enemies without getting a kill.
Dropships
1. Transport (x) passengers x (y)m distance travelled= WP bonus 2. Vehicle kill assist for turret kills 3. Transport kill assist Kill by transported troop within (y)s of troop dropoff
All should have a WP cap similar to the Logi WP bonuses to prevent spam or abuse.
Additionally role specific bonuses or added passive skills should be unlocked through in game achievement and utility.
For instance slayer related bonuses such as perhaps faster reload or higher levels of the proficiency in the weapons tied into reaching x number of kills lifetime For logis their bonuses should be related to equipment ie rep tool use or hives deployed etc
Better yet give some sort of bonus whether its unlocking higher level versions of an item, or creating simple small passive bonuses through utility. So if i use a rep tool x number of time(should be all very very long achievements like 10K+ uses) i get a bump in their efficiency.
The idea here is to teach people how to play the roles in the game by rewarding them properly. Achievements, ribbons, medals are a FPS tradition this is how you add a MMO twist by making them "slightly" better through utility that no amount of SP can buy you only those who earn it through playing can ever earn these small minor but effective passive bonuses.
I have no ideas as to what those bonuses could be

people already whine about the SP gap(Oh the poor newberies should get X millions of SP just for creating a character! I totally don't have a stake in this by creating a character, rocking the OP weapon of the month with my freebie SP, and then deleting it when they balance it to move into the next OP thing, and I am shocked you would even suggest that!), you want to give them something else to try and dumb down "hey, why does that guys thing do more than mine? I WANTS MY THING TO BE AUTOMATICALLY TEH BESTEST NO MATTER WAHT BECAUSE I AM L1337!!" |

Imo, dropship pilots don't make enough for their contribution as it is and this is a great way to rectify that situation. +1 |

Im not suggesting in replacement of the entire SP system you nerd. Im talking about small passive bonueses for a long committed time in a role. Not enough to be OP but enough to make a minor difference(which can be pivotal in more competitive match). Moreover you notice how i say a very long time (it's subjective CCP could adjust the achievements so it would take a year or more of using an item before you get its bonus).
Moreover this is a form of Operant conditioning. By rewarding players by doing certain actions players begin to modify their behavior and use them in the manner intended. The actually learn by doing because you are conditioning the behavior into them through simple rewards in the form of seeing a progress meter go up even if its ever so slow and by punishment in the sense that lacking to do these actions will result in poorer performance on the WP board(refering to the WP bonuses now).
Tying them together teaches people to play the game while making it fun for them and giving them a goal.
This isn't an endorsement for the replacement of our current SP system but in addition to it. (perhaps some of the minor skills can be shifted to this since people don't go spending SP into them anyway)

I know you're not saying a replacement. But the crowd this particular type of game(FPS) gets are kids with ADD who will drop it if a cat comes into the room. basically, the only people who will ever see the rewards from this are the people who sat through beta and have an emotional investment in the game. |

Note how i said they will make minor yet pivotal advantages just enough that in a competitive match they could make the difference nothing too overwhelming but it cant be meaningless either.
Now imagine having this on a droplink that drops spawn time to 1s instead of 3s?
Or a rep tool that does 115-120 instead of 100
An AR that reloads .5-1.0s faster.
etc etc etc.
But here is the thing you have to use it to get better
So while SP can make you grow wider, utility can give you one small extra measure of depth. This depth comes from play and creates specialties within specialties adding to the customization of your fittings/character. |

I like the prolonged use = reward. Makes you stay into that role. |

Here's a *great* bonus idea for logistics troopers: A nanite injector that actually works! YES! That would rock! |

In my experience they do work but for them to take effect the player downed needs to close the kill mail and get back in tac map and request help for it to work.
And you do get revive points so there is that. |

It's been real hit-and-miss for me, probably at least partially because of the steps you outlined above. Something, though, did get borked with reviving in this build, though, since this particular bug had been zapped at least two builds earlier before once again rearing its head in this build.
And, yep, most of the time you do gets points when the revive goes through. I did have an odd occurrence earlier tonight, though, where I revived a teammate GÇö it took three nanite injections to do so GÇö and I didn't get points. Huh. Now that's odd. |
