Hi everyone,
as the title says, I just joined Dust 514. I have no experience whatsoever in Eve Online so everything is brand new to me. My PSN name is MonkeyHero001 (add me if you wish).
I wanted to introduce myself here and get a group of people to play with and more importantly, learn from. I just finished installing and updating the game. I didnt get a chance to actually play yet. I'll play my first match tonight when i get home. I was hoping to get a group to play with so i can learn. I am a quick learner and somewhat naturally good at FPS games.
Hope to have some great matched with you all. |

As a new player, you'll probably make mistakes with your skill points. I know I did. Perhaps that link will help minimize those mistakes. |

Hey, I'm interested in playing around with corporation stuff. You guys want to form a little corp just for fun and mess around until we find a real corp to play with? I just want to see how it all works and play cooperatively with some people who are at least trying. My USB sound card should be in soon, so I should have headset this week.

Before you guys go into making a corporation and whatnot, I'd suggest joining 'Bojos School of The Trades' OR 'DUST University'. Good places, we can help you learn some great stuff, just check us out in 'Corporation Recruitment', to see which one suits you better.

Welcome to New Eden.
So it looks like I'm not the only one who came into this game with zero knowledge of EvE =D.
Just a heads up, don't spend a single Skill Point (SP) on anything just yet. Wait until you've played around with the Starter Fits a little bit and figure out where exactly you want to go with your character.
DUST University, my own corp Kill-Em-Quick and a number of other corps are excellent places to apply to in order to learn. I can vouch for the more experienced members of my corp that we train our newberries well.
Aside from corps, most people you're going to squad up with know their stuff. This game is fresh out of beta so there aren't that many new players on board. And even the newer scrubs know a thing or two that can help.
You're going to get a lot of conflicting information on the get go. I hear tell a lot of people will say that you should rush Armor Upgrades and Shield Enhancements to level V each since they both provide some tasty passive bonuses. But you might actually be better off focusing on your basic setup before you think of maxing out skills (unless your "Basic" fit required a level V skill like Minmatar Medium Dropsuits in order to get Minmatar Logistics Dropsuit.)
A good way to get acquainted with the various roles and interesting combinations that are availiable to a player in DUST 514, check out the Militia section of the Marketplace. Everything in there requires no skill to use at the cost of increased PG/CPU usage. Despite the drawback, it's still an excellent place to learn the ups and downs of each role, and to find the one that suits you best.
Good luck out there, New Eden is a harsh, and cruel place. If you're not prepared, you will die violently on the battlefield. |

Dust is far different that most FPS games, I consider myself quite skilled at them for the most part but still spent my first two weeks in DUST getting my teeth kicked in on a regular basis.
Just be prepared for that and don't be off-put too much, it gets better. |

Make sure you try militia versions of everything(most weapons have a militia versions) to find what you like. You may find you favor sniping VS running assault. Also, like said before try out one of the training corps.
Good luck! |

thank you all for the warm welcome. I will certainly check out all the links you guys provided bit by bit. There is certainly lots of info to digest all at once.
I am assuming Corps are like guilds or clans. If so I'd love to get into one that can help me learn the game and all its unique aspects.
Unfortunately, my headset for my ps3 broke so I will not be able to communicate via audio anytime soon (lack of budget for accessories currently).
Anyway, I am looking forward to getting home and finally getting into the action.
