I currently use BPO's such as the dren and militia gear. I don't care too much if I die but I am wondering if any Blueprints are set to be released soon? |

Well, there's a Heavy BPO in the Elite pack. I'd kinda like to see some of the new stuff and variants represented though.
Uprising introduced Caldari Logis. Amarr Assaults and Logis, Gallente Assaults and Logis, and Minmatar Assaults and Scouts. Also: Scrambler Rifles, Flaylocks, Plasma Cannons, and Active Scanners.
Which of those have BPOs now? None. Which of those were represented in the THREE new Merc packs? NONE. They only used variants we've already seen.

I seriously hope CCP converts all BPO to simple paint jobs when customization is introduced. Soul bound gear doesn't belong in New Eden. |

I like the cosmetic aspects, and STD level stuff isn't unbalancing. I figure the people that are shelling out for this sort of stuff are basically funding the game as well. So, every time you see someone splurge on a STD-level suit that's basically a different color you can think.. "Ah... this person is supporting the development." It's a good thing, basically. To play competitively (like on the PC level), the STD BPOs won't cut it anyhow.
I find it odd that they haven't chosen to showcase any of the new equipment. If you DO care about cosmetics, you have no options within the new variants.
How many funky colors and patterns can you have for a Caldari Assault suit now? Quite a few. There's a ton of new classes/variants that haven't had that treatment though. There's a crapload of people who never played MAG that would like to see some interesting suits, and would pay money for them.
It's a contrast from the regular whining threads I think. We ALL want some things fixed, right? Well, separate from that, this is a communication that, "hey, we'd like to give you money for these things... why no make them?" Which I'd think from a profit and paycheck perspective, is a matter that would interest them. |

BPOs are currently "pay to opt out from economic warfare". In the New Eden universe, that's about as close to P2W as gold ammo.
While it's not entirely meaningful at the moment -- since there isn't really an economy -- as soon as players can start producing items, the advantage of BPO items is going to become really jarring. Standard items with BPO equivalents will become worthless unless BPOs are either: converted into production tools (and thus gain a cost), or, as is more likely, converted into custom paint jobs you can apply to suits (these you can't lose, but it's just a paint job so NBD). |

I don't agree... there are BPOs in EVE and the universe hasn't imploded.
These things are standard level gear and I don' t think it would be right to change them retroactively after people spent money on them. Oh, the QQing we would see!
I'd imagine that higher levels of gear may come along that makes them less valuable in the longer term |

BPOs in EVE are for manufacturing; you use minerals to get the item, minerals cost time and/or ISK to acquire, hence the manufactured item is not free. To build a Rifter, you take several types of mineral and a (bought) Rifter BPO to a factory line and build it. The item has a value, as its components and time to build are considered work, and therefore not free.
BPOs in DUST are infinite use free of charge items, there is no associated cost beyond buying the BPO. BPO were introduced as a means to offer players cosmetic items before such a mechanic exists. The equivalent in EVE would be buying an infinite use Rifter with real money; if you get it blown up, it re-spawns at no cost in your hangar. This does not exist. If it did, the player base would explode with righteous fury and mass-unsubscribe.
BPOs must be changed before the economy becomes player driven, lest the standard items they share the stats with become undesirable for manufacture: either as blueprints for manufacturing custom painted items, or turned into paint jobs that you can apply to whatever suit you want. In the end, our current BPOs are intended as vanity items, but as it stands, they are a threat to the future economy. This must not be tolerated by the player base, because it's one of the very things that was campaigned against so hard during the Jita Riots.
I own several of these BPO, I use them to farm ISK as I don't risk anything using them; there should always be risk and reward, even in high sec - our BPOs let us pay real money to take risk out of the factor, this is disgusting and against the design philosophy of both EVE and DUST.
There is not going to be higher levels or tiers of gear; that would imply power creep, again, something CCP is vehemently against. It's bad enough that we have 3 tiers of suits already; just look at the proto pub stomps. |

I guess they could refund AUR or something... but you'd have to do something if you changed the item retroactively or every idiot with a mommy for a lawyer would be spamming the forums for a month.
Now, "tranferring" the BPO to somebody in EVE to manufacture your suits for you, that's would be alright. |

CCP can't be held legally accountable for any changes to their property. You do not actually own anything in game. Good luck to those lawyers.
I'm not one to judge if paying 20$ for 20$ worth of AUR, some AUR items, boosters and paint jobs is worth your 20$, if you catch my drift.
The idea -- last I heard -- is to have DUST mercs manufacture items too; there'd be no problems if BPOs required you to spend some time and resources building them, as they'd then have some form of value. It's not an important issue until CCP starts discussing open player markets, but it's something to keep in the back of your mind. Don't let CCP think they can get away with not following up on their earlier content decisions. No one would be happy if CCP suddenly said "nope, CBA to make racial heavies, dealwithit", yet this is the kind of thing that could happen if we allow ourselves to forget.
To quote the relevant section of the EULA, which everyone signed:
DUST 514 EULA wrote: B. I know, but I like to have a decent suit to fall back on. Besides, the dropsuit is standard and I don't mind just staying with standard until I get enough SP for proto-logi. |
