Turrets, like handheld weapons, should get skills to enhance their respective turrets. They're should be a sharpshooter to make the optimal range longer, a Fitting optimasation to make them eaiser to fit, a heat distribution skill to reduce heat buildup (and a rapid fire skill for missiles), and give us the proficiency skill back, then make them have 2% higher damage.

I agree with you on the turret fitting optimization skill and the reinstallment of turret proficiencies. As far as the rest goes, they are covered under current modules unlocked through turret upgrades. Sharpshooter, however is a tricky topic.
Sharpshooter for tanks might make them not fulfill their ideal role of pushing the lines or railgun sniping from proper distance. Just imagine a railgun tank that covers your entire redzone from the back of his. Not exactly balanced to say the least. Then again with the current balance between readily available advanced AV and nerfed vehicles, maybe this would help vehicles. This is really a two edged sword.
Back to the point of the turret proficiencies, why were they removed? They allowed for deeper specialization into turrets and a place to burn SP that helps vehicles during engagements. It just doesn't seem to make sense. If CCP wants us to specialize into roles then why not increase the amount of skills specific to a set role, for instance tanking or dropships. Increasing the multipliers is more of annoying than anything else.
The main point I think we are missing here though is that NONE of this matters if the hit detection on ALL turrets is subpar more often than not. It doesn't matter if I have proficiency level 5 in large hybrid turrets if your shots don't connect anyway. |

heating=ammo for turrets. As far as I know, all weapons have a ammo cap skill, so I put 2 and 2 together. Also, I said optimal range, which is the range you do 100% damage at. The max range stays the same.
