It is a disgrace seeing players using the GLU-5 tactical assault riffle which means most of these new players using it were not even AR players in the first place and i am so tired of seeing these people using it and thinking that they are good using an overpowered weapon. |

i think they should change it to a semi-auto sniper rifle rather than specificly nerfing/removing it like say a slight buff to damage(to like 90 or so 100 max) increased range (idk either in the sniper rifle range or maybe like 150-200 meters) increased kick and decreased RoF to keep them from shot spam smaller mag(10-15 mag size)give it a slightly lower magnification scope than a standard sniper rifle slightly tighter hip fire crosshairs and of course changing from an AR to a sniper rifle this would make it more of a marksman weapon which is what i think it was ment to be and would fit more in with sniper rifles rather than AR's |

It's not the Tactical Assault Rifle that is overpowered. It's the fact that some players are using modded controllers that enable the rifle to fire really fast in a single pull of the trigger. The only solution to this problem is to impose a limit on how fast the gun can fire. Halo has a built in limiter that renders all modded controllers useless.
No nerfing to the gun needed. |

If taking an HMG and removing its damage because it can kill TAR users ISN'T a nerf, then i'd say limiting RPM on TAR would be more than acceptable? |

Actually, yes, some is needed. Specifically the ROF needs to be reduced, and maybe it needs some kind of short range penalty. |

That's near what it is after people stack 5 enhanced damage mods on it. Sick of getting 3 hit with TARs

did they remove the complex or something? 2 complex damage mods is alittle over 88 damage for the ADV tac why would anyone bother with 5 enhanced.... |

The weapon really needs a hard limited on how fast it can fire, and I mean as part of how it operates in the game.
No matter your control method, you shouldn't be able to exceed the max firing rate of the weapon, which is what needs to be reduced.
However, it doesn't need to be returned to what it was in Chromosome, with so much recoil that it was impossible to land enough hits before the target had run behind cover. It just needs to be guided gently into it's proper role, instead of being equally good in both CQC and ranged fighting.
I would say a cap on ROF that still allows it to fire rapidly, but more importantly a large boost to hipfire spread to prevent it being able to outclass weapons built for CQC. |

I use this ar all the time because the normal ar is so weak and useless. Im only good with the tac if im a little ways away. Up close I get stomped. |

IT's EASY, WHY DON'T YOU FIX IT?
It will take 5 minutes, you only have to change a NUMBER.
But i already know that we will wait 6 months before ccp will release a "fix" against modded controller (that wont work of course) or will nerf the tac ar to useless. |

Based on my experiences I agree this would be a good change. With low skill points the weapon didn't feel OP at all, but it's very OP with high skill points and seems way out of balance.
I think in addition to the excellent ammo suggestions, the rate of fire should be capped at some reasonable rate (still fast) to prevent exploits, and a slight bit of kick should be added so if you're pumping shots out like a HMG from medium range your not going to be pinpoint accurate, but if you're firing at about 120 shots/minute then you should be pretty accurate.
Also, there needs to be other weapons to counter the TAC at medium range. Currently the Laser Rifle is horribly broken. By fixing it the TAC will have to watch out for laser users. Right now if they kite to mid-range there's nothing that can really touch them (except snipers). This will help balance the TAC more "organically" than any of the other suggestions.

The Tactical AR has been nerfed, I think they did a good job because they didn't make it unusable but they did lower its power. It has the same damage but they lowered the accuracy which was around 56 to about 47, the lowered the max ROF to 400 and they lowered the clip size to 18. |
