Most likely no. Transfer speed between PS3 and the HDD/SSD is the bottleneck. Seek times are faster, but that won't make a big difference. |

This is the SSD I put in my PS3, have had it since December and it is still working great.

And yes, you will get into matches faster. I am often on the ground for a good 4-5 seconds before everybody else in a fresh match. And even longer if I deploy right away.
Also having an SSD pretty much eliminates all frame-rate issues in the game. I was in a PC match yesterday as a ringer and almost everybody had severe match crippling frame-rate issues, but I had no problems whatsoever (there was one time where it got choppy for a second or two, but that was it). |

I have the 256GB version of the one above and have had no issues.
Do note that you will need to keep it half empty for the drive to keep the best performance.
Also, you will want a drive with onboard garbage collection as the TRIM function is not supported by the PS3. |

I have a 500GB drive in my PS3, why would I buy a SSD for hundreds more dollars and not get better performance and possibly less storage? |

Actually SSDs have better performance but less storage. If you have a HDD, then you are obviously going for storage space. But for performance, you should definitely go for SSD |

That's usually what most people do with SSDs since they have such low storage space they usually just work around it with a external drive so they can have the best of both worlds |

OCz is a good brand, I think Intel is the best though. |

But for performance, you should definitely go for SSD On PS3 though it really isn't much of an improvement. I have an older PS3 that I put a SSD in because it was bigger than the HHD that came with the system and I figured that since my PC SSD is wicked fast it would be great for PS3 as well... I was not impressed. Also, SSDs do still deteriorate faster than HDDs and with the inability to manage the memory usage on the PS3 like on a PC it seems an unwise investment for a dated console. |

it is worth doing. get a intel x25m
cheap and all the space you need for dust anyway and fast and reliable and cheap.
btw ps3 not worth going about sata2 cant do higher bandwith |

There is also the hybrid drives too, I've seen a few sites do comparisons on loading times on the PS3 with a SSD, HDD, and a hybrid, and the hybrids actually come pretty close to a SSD (sometimes identical). Plus you get the benefit of having a ton of storage space since a hybrid still uses a HDD. |

Installed a solid state drive around October of last year, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it increased performance of dust in a very noticeable way. Mine is only a 64gb Ocz drive that I picked up for cheap, but since it's the only game I play on the ps3 it's more than enough. +1 recommend here. |

We have a BHD member with a SSD and he always gets into the war barge a good 20 seconds before anyone else.
It does make a difference |

Unreal engine games seem to benefit the most; it almost completely eliminates the infamously slow loading textures. |
